Went to a Wedding at the Carltun last night (review)

What can I say, it was AMAZING....Carltun brides, you have nothing to worry about.

When we first got there, there were several white gloved attendants lined up on both sides of the doors offering glasses of champagne and cosmopolitans.

The cocktail hour started at 7:30 and it was both inside and out. The inside was gorgeous and the view outside was just the same. Tables overlooking a beautiful landscape with a fountain in the center of the lawn. The food was amazing and there was tons of it. Their cocktail hour lasted an 1 1/2.

The reception started at 9:00 and just like everything else, it was amazing. Our friends had the band Code Bleu and they were so good in case anyone is interested or is using them. Flowers were from Spitz & Peck...again, amazing. For dinner, our choices were Chilean sea bass, French roasted chicken, and filet mignon (I had the filet mignon)...delicious and presented beautifully.

Wedding cake......GORGEOUS!!! In addition, they re-opened the inside room where the cocktail hour was and had all kinds of desserts offered (different varieties of cake, vienesse (sp?) table, mousses. Around 12:00, a man was outside rolling fresh cigars which the guys seemed to enjoy. The wedding ended around 1:30....I was sad to go I had so much fun.

So, from this guest, the Carltun gets an A++++. One of the nicest weddings I've ever been too

Friends of the family had thier daughters wedding on a sat night there about 10 years ago, and it cost $250 a head back then (at this time most really nice places were going for $50 a plate). I believe the current rate is at least $250 for a basic package on a saturday night. For that price, everything better be perfect! (I have had dinner and dessert there before and it was also very good)

I went to a wedding there a few years ago...and it was absolutely amazing...

We looked into it as well...I think $250 is a bit high...they quoted us $140 for a sat night in the summer...in 2001

I didnt even bother to call them when I looked into booking a RH, but if places like Villa Lombardis and Carlyle on the Green are over $200 for a sat night, than Cartun definitly is. (I am not sure the exact price for C on the G, but I know Villa's is $250 for a sat night in July of 2004. (thats what they told me when I went there for a food tasting in the winter with my friend who is getting married there on Aug 17) They were already booked for the summer, but I wanted to know the price anyway. I dont have that kind of money!

ETS: The people that had that wedding at $250 a plate 10 years ago are SUPER rich, they had food and wine imported for this event, extra servers, ect.

I know it sounds ridiculous, but why would I make up a story like this? When I am talking these people have money, I am not kidding. Im talking multi-millionares. These people no longer live in East Meadow, but there are things around town with thier name on it (I wont say publically what the name is, but if you really want to know FM me) My mom was friends with the wife (they since lost touch) and that is the price that this woman told her. I am sure that if we all were given an unlimited budget, we could easily spend $100k or more. This price was not limited to what they usually provide, these people had imported wines, foods, ect that add up to a lot of money on top of the principle. Any of the places we have now add at least $10-$15 for a vienesse and/or surf and turf, ect. So if the price back then was even $150, add the other stuff (imported food, bar bill (remember not all places had open bars included back then), tax and gratuity and that can easily add up to $250 per person.

I believe you...I just didn't want perspective brides to be turned off by the numbers...

I am sorry if I scared people away.. That was not my intent, I just wanted to make it clear that I was not making up this story. The Carltun is beautiful, and the food (from the time I went to dinner there) was excellent, and I am sure all the brides who are having thier wedding there will be very satisfied. Good luck to all the brides who are looking into having thier wedding there.

Carltun brides, you have nothing to worry about.

This statement just made me chuckle b/c I don't really think that women who can afford to book the Carltun for their wedding worry ONE BIT about the service. The place is top notch and you are paying a premium for that. Guaranteed.

Glad you enjoyed the affair as a guest, tho!

I am having my wedding at the Carltun next May and I am super excited! We went for dinner in July and thought the food was spectacular! I have heard nothing but great things about it. Now, if I could just manage to do all over the other things associated with the wedding, ie. photographer, florist, etc., I would be even happier.

I will be having my wedding at the Carlun September 18th this year (2004)! I had considered Limos to get us from GC hotel and other local hotels to the Carltun that morning....and also to bring us back to GC hotel that evening.

Since you have had your wedding there, do you thing I could just forego the limo thing? We don't have a bridal party and I would love to decorate up the Land Rover!

Please give me your thoughts!

efran26 - this is a very old thread so the person you're asking may no longer be on the boards, at least not that often. Your best bet is to post a new topic, directing it toward Carltun brides...you'll probably get more answers that way.

Welcome to the boards by the way!
