went to look at invites and i found ones by elite that i loved. they are 2 layers of paper. one is for the border and it has 2 ribbons on the side that form a knot. its very simple and elegent. i need 200 invites so w/everything it came to $2,000. is that 'normal'? thats $10 per invite. any advice?

deff not normal. Elite invites are gorgeous and I almost purchased them...til i snapped out of it and realized I don't want to start my marriage in debt but I also didn't like the look of the cheap, no frills invites out there...so I'm going to make my own pocketfold invites.
If it's what you want and you can afford it without the blink of an eye...go for it...but $2,000 for invitations is DEFF the HIGHer end of the invite spectrum.

i thought it seemed a bit much but i also having nothing or anyone else to compare it to. now every time i see any other invite i compare it to the one by elite. maybe if i find a place that can do them a bit cheaper

i was looking today and only need about 75 invites which seemed to be coming to about $300 so for 200 invites .. I think you can probably find nice ones for $700 ??
remember- people just throw them out !

DIY is out of the question for me. i have no time or patience. id rather spend the $2000...lol the thing i liked was that the ribbon is already on it, i dont have to assemble it myself.

You are kidding right??? That's a ridiculous amount for invites!!!! I wouldn't spend even close to that! you should be able to get invites for a few hundred.

I do think that is alot for invitations. If you can do it, and that is what you want, then that is great. But if that is stretching your budget, maybe look into some alternative options.
I need 200 invites also and I'm using a girl from the 07 boards to do my invitations (as recommended by another 08 bride who is also using her). They're pocketfold and really cute. She sent me a sample and I loved it. She is doing all the assembly, etc. FM me if you'd like additional info, but needless to say, her price is substantially less than 2 grand. She is looking to do invitations as a side business and is working on becoming an LIW vendor. I am not sure what other types of invitations she does aside from the pocketfolds, but maybe she has other styles that she works with too.

i wasnt but i was going t6o there after my first place, but it was after 4 and they close at 5. i might look there as well. how was it?

If you love the invitations then i say go for it. Its your wedding so if you want to splurge on them more power to you.
Are invitations are on the expensive side as well but we love them and that is all that mattered.
Also when you ask is that normal that depends. If you ask me and all the people i know that are getting married or are married that is the going rate on the invitiations that we all like.
I think it is a matter of preference and opinion.

i got my invitations from jeanm.com and they already come assembled as well and they were not 2000 dollars, you should check them out

That's actually not abnormal for something that is custom and layered with ribbons the way you are describing.
There are invitations out there that are significantly less expensive, but they won't have the same look.
