Went to my first florist appt

Went to my first florist appt

And I left wanting to pull my hair out!!

Compared to other quotes I've seen, I think they gave me a pretty fair quote, the problem is I still just can't afford it. I originally budgeted $800 for flowers, I have NO idea what I was thinking...she gave me seperate pricing for CPs, my bo-k and the bridesmaids..when I added up about how much everything was going to be it was somewhere around $2200 I think..there's NO way thats happening... I really hope her quote was outrageous or something, because at this rate I don't know what I'm going to do..

On the way home my mom and I stopped at AC Moore to see how much it would be to do it with silk flowers, which I originally wanted to do...but thats expensive too..

AHHH!

awwww...sorry to hear I am prepared for the florist hit. I was told that the florist bill are one of the most expensive ones.

Keep looking, you have time, until you find someone that will work w/ your budget. They can give you ideas on how to get the look that you want at a lower cost.

Don't give up

have you thought about doing some kind of big candle for the CP instead of flowers? and just do flowers for you and the BP?

was the quote for high or low CPs? low are always less....How many CPs and what kind of flowers were you quoted for?

I got a great quote from Flowers by Burton. I am doing simple floating gardenia for centerpieces which saves me over $1K!

I know, it s*cks... it's KILLING me to be paying almost $3k for things that will be dead in a week.

do not give up. I had a small budget to work with and my florist was able to get me to that number. Consider other option maybe candles for your centerpieces and real flowers for you and the girls bouquet

My florist is great and reasonable. Moriches Main Street Flowers in Center Moriches...I know its out east...but they do flowers all over Long Island! Ask for Judy. She just did my engagement party centerpieces and they were amazing.

ok well ... i am acutally in the same boat as you. i really dont want to spend crazy money on things that die in a few days. i am def going to get flowers for me and the BM's but im not sure yet what do to with the centerpieces. i would do some kind of candle thing but my wedding is during the day and i feel like it would be a waste but i do love these for a centerpieces and they are from bed bath and beyond for $20 ... ALSO i was looking at cosco.com and you can buy wholesale flowers in bulk ... if you have someone who is crafty im sure they could make simple centerpieces ... my friend did this thru cosco and they send her flowers the day before, she kept them in water so they would open up for the big day. they actually came out really nice and they were soooo cheap!

If you don't want to shell the money out, why don't you do candle CP's? I think they are beautiful and would look amazing in the room you picked at JT!

OH and I forgot! For my E Party, I used a wholesale florist and made my own CP's. Let me tell you- the flowers were fabulous! I got almost 200 stems of carnations for I think 120! If you go into my album, you can see a CP I made. I got so many compliments. The website is www.fiftyflowers.com.

Aww you girls are the best!!

I went to Designs by Rose..I have to say they are some of the SWEETEST people I have met, seriously...and they listened to everything I had to say and they showed me a bunch of ideas... they were really great..if I had the money I'd GLADLY hand if over to them...

I was looking for a peony bouquet which she quoted me for, but also suggested a cheaper bo-k with cybidium orchids and roses, it was better for the budget, plus I needed a backup plan in case the peonies weren't still available at that time next year..

I have 6 BMs

2mom corsages

Groom, groomsmen, ringbearer and dad all included..

12 CPs - we were going to do 4dozen roses, cymbidium orchids, hydrangea and some more mixed flowers, I forgot exactly what else and my quote is downstairs...but they were going to be high and they were BEAUTIFUL...but just way out of the budget...she went over some other ideas but I sort of have my heart send on high CPs

I'm not sure what I'm going to do...my mother is actually amazing at floral design, so we're going to go to a wholesale floral place and see what we can come up with...plus I'm getting one qote via email and I have an appt with Flower Barn on Sat so we'll see what happens there..

I'm on my moms computer but I'll add pics of what I was looking for later...

Re: Went to my first florist appt

I'm in the same boat as well. Since I heard sooo many great reviews about Burtons I went there, and I was quoted just about $3,000! I just can NOT imagine that ... none the less, AFFORD that! Soo.. I saw a post a girl did for long tables, and it's two small CPs and a line of candles in the middle. I am going to see what type of quote I can get for that. I do want the Tall, but it's only a 20 difference, according to Burtons... so that won't help much for only 20 tables.
I'm still up in the air for what I want to do...but pics of 'differen't things that won't cost an arm and a leg and that are still verry elegnet... that would be nice. :)
