FI and i went to precana. We we looking forward to it so much. Unfortunately it was so so bad it fel like torure! lol. Eventhough we're not married yet, I think we could have done a much better job. My deacon and his wife and a newlywed couple from the church led it, but it was very boring. Hopefully yours is better.

I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your precana class. We loved ours. It was a very good experience about each other.

FH and I are getting married by a Lutheran pastor... (my faith, though I do not really practice). I thought we were going to be able to skip pre caena but I was told that we would have to attend the Lutheran equivalent.
What exactly does it entail??

Re: Went to precana last week
Mine was horrible. We had a former investment banker come in and talk about how much money he made and how he was able to retire at age 35 and stay home with his wife to raise 4 kids. After all, a woman like her would NEVER work!!! Oh and then he spoke about the evils of birth control.
Um - when you have 20 million dollars and a wife who doesn't want (or need) to work - deciding not to use birth control is a much easier decision. His point was that we should allow God to decide how many kids we have. Um - and who feeds them and pays for their college if you don't have the $20 million.
The whole thing was painful and we didn't get anything out of it.
Anyone who is scared shouldn't be. We didn't have to speak at all. For 20 minute - we broke into couples to go over some questions that were really boring (Name something your partner did recently that you thought was nice)
Nothing stressful at all. Mostly boring. That said, some people love it. I think you have to pick a good program - they can be drastically different.

Mine was annoying. We had another couple who were obnoxious and felt they had to explain why having just one child was sooo wrong (we had just said we wanted one). I was so upset and angry. I wanted to tell her off so bad but i turned the other cheek

We had a great experience. They didn't preach too much about birth control. The couple said they understand that people can't afford to have all these kids, but there supposed to inform us on Natural Family Planning. They were very realistic. I guess it depends on who your with.
