Went to see...

I went to see a few places today, thought I would check for feedback.

First place was Old Field Club in stonybrook area. I LOVED the main dining room. It really looked like whatever colors and look I wanted would fit right in, I like that. Also the view is spectacular. Their prices were in the 100-115 range pp., but he said that he does not charge the standard 19% service charge like other places, so it is equivalent to a place that was around 80 a head. Does anyone know if this means I am expected to do that 19% on my own 'voluntarily' or does it mean it is included in the price?

The second place was Three Village Inn. I loved this place, and the funniest thing was that the guy we talked to had my mom's band (My mom is a singer in a wedding band, or was till last year, band name is Chaser, and they are awesome if anyone has any questions about them) do his wedding, so he was really friendly. I really like the country look of the place, but I personally think that the yellow curtains of the dining room just clashed with my style. I think I will definitely use them for rehearsal dinner or bridal shower maybe, etc.

Third place was Danford'd Inn in Port Jefferson. I actually really liked this place. The look of the room was very subdued, the location is excellent. The band area/dancefloor is a bit separate from the dining area. This place would not fit somebody looking for a traditional wedding style, but I actually think I like it. They also have an awesome bar.

We still have more searching to do. We are looking for fall 2004, so we have a little time, but don't want to wait too long. These were jsut first on the list cause they are close to wear we live.

If anyone has feedback on any of the places, or any ideas for similar places please let me know!!!!

I also went to all the places you saw and thought they were all great. Each has its own special style. We picked the Three Village Inn because I wanted something a little different and we love the service and the food there. They are also very accomidating with almost every suggestion that I had. If the only reason you didn't like the TVI was because of the curtains, speak to them about it because they change the decor in the room often and might be able to do something more towards your liking.

Thanks Karen! Yeah, I did like the place, and I am not crossing it off yet LOL I just have a thing with too many flowers. It was a bit much for me, but I will discuss the decor with them.

I loved ALL the decorations at Three Village Inn except the curtains in the dining room. Everything else is so beautiful. They always decorate seasonally, and they do a great job.
