We made a list last night and it came out to over 200 people

Our issue is.. my fiance (just wrote bf and then deleted haha) is from Chicago, meanwhile I'm from NY and most of our guests will be from out of town.. We want the venue to be in a beautiful area where they can come out of their hotel and explore and see things.. Do you guys have any suggestions?




Oh and thank you all VERY much.. I've had SO many people calling me and texting me and sending me messages today that I have been just overwhelmed with all the love

Danford's is a hotel and reception hall. Land's End has a hotel nearby or on site. but I think it's small.

otherwise, you can block rooms at a nearby hotel and have a shuttle. I'm doing that for some of our out of town guests.

Oh and how do I figure out our budget? Since we want to get married on a Saturday, I hear it's about $150 per person.. right?

A lot of places I called our cheaper than that. Plus, if you're doing it 2010 you'll get some deals since it's short notice. Call around and get quotes over the phone. I have a list of places I called with Sat quotes if you want to know. FM and I'll send you. Most places I called were less than that.

you need to figure out how much money (if any) your families will be 'donating' to you ... then add how much you and FH have saved, and how much you're willing to borrow.

The first thing you'll want to do is make a sample guest list. Once that is done then you can start either a) making a budget or b) going to RH's and seeing what you like and what you don't like.

Thats awesome!! Congrats!! We are having a Rabbi too :o) 150 sounds about right for a Sat night but you may be able to get it for lower. What sort of halls do you like?

Ok we figured out our budget..and we don't want to spend more then $30-35k on a hall. Also, the dates are either 10/2 or 10/9..whichever is available.

This is so exciting.. I still can't believe I'm planning my wedding

I think that you are on the right track so far, you should look into going to bridal showcases. There's a winter bridal showcase thread on Brides Helping Brides that gives a lot of dates. THat way, you can look at some places and see some vendors to get an idea of what you want to do! I booked a few and am excited to go...
