On Kauai we just had the regular garden view. On Maui we had a partial ocean (ask for your room to be in the tower) it's so worth it.
Also on Kauai - you have to eat at Tidepools - it was one of the best meals I've ever had. Dondero's was just ok - there are better, cheaper places on the island to eat.
On Maui, try to do the Romance Under the Stars astronomy thing. It was so romantic. They take 3 or 4 couples up on the roof of the hotel and they have a huge telescope and tell you hawaiian legends of the stars while serving you champagne and chocolate covered strawberries.
Did you get the breakfast included package at both places? It's really worth it.
Also, my number one suggestion is that drinks, snacks, etc are REALLY expensive. Stop at an ABC store (they're like Hawaii's 7-11's but way nicer) or the supermarket and stock up on stuff to eat and drink by the pool.
You are just going to love both hotels so much - we are actually going back for our HM because we loved them so much!
