So they had a cake tasting last night at the showcase and I have to admit I am soooooo disappointed. The cake wasn't good, it was dry and tasted stale. Even FH didn't like it and he likes everything LOL. I feel with all the money we are spending at WM we should get a delicious cake and not just settle because it is the cake that is included. There's got to be something we can do.
I wasn't going to say anything because I thought I was the only one but after reading lots of other brides post on the WM thread I realize there are a lot of us who felt the same way about the cake.
Maybe we should all email our BM's and tell them that we were at the showcase last night and how unhappy we were with the cake. If enough of us complain they have to realize there is a problem and maybe they can come up with an alternative or give us a credit so we can go somewhere else to get a cake that we actually like. What do you ladies think?
UPDATE:
My BM just emailed me back and apologized. She said that I can speak with Kelly when I finalize our menu. That options they usually offer are fruit and pastry on the cordial bar, ice sculpture, discount on choc fountain. I don't want those, I want a cake!! A cake that tastes like it is from a bakery and not day old supermarket cake. I'm so mad.

Re: Westbury Manor - Cake (Erga Bakery) UPDATE
I met with Kelly to finalize my menu yesterday. She told us that the devil's food cake is moister than the yellow cake. She also explained that when the cakes are assembled they are much moister than the plain sheet cakes that were served at the showcase (I do not know how they tasted b/c I was not there). She also explained that some cake filling combos are better than others. We choose a devil's foodcake with rasberry peserves and white chocolate mousse with whipped cream. FH and I are going to ordrer a small cake from Erga to try it out. I will let you girls know how it is.

I have just read all of your comments and I really think you girls need to band together (maybe go to the WM together) and have something done about the cake. You are all paying a lot money for your weddings and you should NOT be disappointed with your cake. The cake and food at your wedding is what people remember and you want it to be the best. There has got to be something they can do for all of you. JMHO Good Luck girls.

I'm not a WM bride but my RH also uses Erga. I was going to say something related to the above. Some combinations are definitely better than others as far as retaining moisture in the cake. I went for a tasting and they prepared 3 different types for me. I chose french custard with fresh strawberries. It tasted wonderful and I would recommend that.
Go to Erga and talk to Lilly, taste the cake for yourself. I have no idea what was served that night at the showcase but the Erga cakes I've tasted- both at my tasting and at 2 weddings at WM were very good!

Thank you, that makes me feel a little better. I mean this isn't going to ruin my day and I am not going to spend $700+ for a cake from an outside bakery, however, I feel with all the money I am spending at WM I should have a decent cake and the cake at the showcase was well below decent. That being said, I think I will go to Erga bakery and get a small cake and see if maybe they just had an off night at the showcase

Re: Westbury Manor - Cake (Erga Bakery) UPDATE
our cake was from Black Forest Bakery in Lindehurst and it was superb. so if any of you decide to check elsewhere, maybe inquire there. Ours was inculded so I don't know pricing. One bad thing is they do not do tstings there - - they tell you to buy a small cake to try them out. but ours was terrific. vanilla with raspberry and choc mousse fillings. and interestingly, it was much better than the one they had at the Larkfield showcase we went to. don't know why they would send something not as good as what is at the actual wedding but that happened the nite we went, so maybe the same is true at WM. what have brides past said about the cake they got at their weddings?
