Tonight is the westbury manor showcase probably the last one I go to before I am married! I'm really excited to see the hall once again,anyone else going??

I went! I was totally NOT thrilled with the cake! It was terrible! Does anyone else feel that way?????

I was there and actually just got home. I didnt think the cake was that bad .. what it amazing!?! Absolutely not, but it was decent. With all of the food that we have I've decided that we are just going to go with the cake they give us.

OK...maybe I am overly sensitive about cake LOL I am a baker :) It was ok - Steven said the same exact thing!!!! I just wanted something with UMF you know what I mean? I am going to go the bakery they use and see if I can make some minor changes! Steven also said the cake may have been cute very early and dried out! I guess that is possible!
Did you want to make any other upgrades? The potato bar was cool and I love mashed potatoes but like you said there is so much food!!!
You got home just now? How long were you there? What did you think?

True .. they came out with the marble cake right as I was approaching the line and it was pretty good ... so maybe the cake had just been out too long.... and probably even longer sitting in the kitchen.
We didn't make any upgrades. Dennis said that 10% is next to nothing off the price per person.
We got there at 8pm and left around 9:45 .. Im back in queens so it takes a half hour to get home ... uugghh

Dennis is right. The time to make the deal is when you book - I think anyway! Not sure. I hope thats why the cake wasnt great! I liked the cannoli cream! What did you think? Ugh that is a pain but at least no traffic :) Right? Closer to work too!

It was ok - I almost fell on the floor at the jewelry prices! 395 for earrings! OUCH - I wont ever wear them again!

Liked the canoli and Dennis liked the chocolate mousse. Might do either those two, or the mousse and raspberry for fillings with chocolate cake and whipped cream .. Im not paying extra for fondant.

Where was the cake tasting? Was it in the Manor Room or Garden Room? We got there around 7:30 and stayed for an hour there wasn't much to see. We asked one of the staff where it was and she didn't know! LOL We did get the chocolate fountain trio enhancement which we were planning on getting anyway, but you girls are right 10% doesn't really make a difference but the lady who was at the booth did say if we ever decide that we don't want it they can always take it out 2 weeks before the wedding.

It was right next to the tuscan upgrade display! They threw in a fountain when I was negotiating :) we added a few things then though!

I went and was glad I got to taste the cake so I def will not be using their bakery. The cake was way too dry, the fillings and icing were okay though. There was so much food to try and everything tasted soo good. I upgraded to the mashed potato bar, don't judge me lol. The Thomas Knoll jewelry was beautiful but really pricey.
Is anybody doing Ovations for uplighing? They quoted me $1500 for multiple lights throughout the evening. I'm checking with NY Lounge before I finally decide.

Ugh....I felt the same way abt the cake! I am going to go to the bakery first before I spend 800 on a cake! Maybe the cake was just cut too early and dried out or maybe I can upgrade to a better tasting cake! The jewelry was totally pricey! I am wearing it ONCE no need to speand 395 on a pair of earings! I would rather put that into the cost of a pair of diamond studs LOL! I wasn't thinking abt uplighting at all! BTW love the potato bar but I thought since my wedding is in June it might be too heavy or else I would totally upgrade to it!!!!

I was not happy about the cake either..the only cake I liked was the carrot cake with the cream cheese icing...I want to go to the bakery and have a real tasting though. The guy at the cake stand said that we have to make appointments with Francescos through our BMs..I never heard of that before, have you? Honestly though, I am so glad I went. I think I needed to be reminded of how I fell in love with the place. I have the conservatory, library, and Hill Room for my cocktail hour, so I loved how everything flowed, made me envision my wedding! :)

Who said you have to make an appt. thru your bm, I called the bakery myself and went to speak to Lillie with a picture of the cake I wanted. I didn't do any tastings there but I showed her the picture and she showed it to the baker who said it was a difficult cake to make. That's another reason why I'd rather not deal with them.
There was a vendor at the showcase giving out little cupcakes and apple cider. I wish I had gotten their name cuz there cake was really good.

Are you talking abt the stand next to the makeup lady across from the flowers in the bigger room? If so that was the take me home bar offered as an upgrade. I am thinking its the same bakery.

It was behind the potato bar. If it's the same bakery I'm surprised. Why were the cupcakes so good and the cake so not. I like the take home idea do you remember how much it was?

No I don't but I have the paperwork at home so I can tell you later! I love it too but hot drinks on a June night? I am doing a cabdy bar instead! They said if I supplied everything they wouldn't charge me but they would set it up! Not bad, right? I have to think the cupcakes were from the same bakery! I'm going to ask my BM!

the short guy by the cakes who was going around asking if we needed help...I told him I've heard not so great things about Francesco's and he said it was the old bakery who gave them problems, not Francesco's. I said I wanted to do a cake tasting at the bakery, and he said I have to call Ian (my BM) and then Francesco's wouldn't give me a problem. Umm...I'm spending enough money..no body should be giving me a problem! lol
