I made an appointment at Pilo Arts in Bay Ridge for a hair and makeup trial for Saturday.
They called me today to confirm the appointment, and I asked oh, by the way, how much is this going to run me?
$150 for hair. To start. Depending on how complicated you want it
$80 for makeup.
plus $40 for airbrush.
plus more for lashes.
plus tax and tip
Um. You do know that your salon is in Bay Ridge and not on Madison Ave, right?
Give me a break. I'd pay that amount for the day of if the artist is good. And really nice. But I will NOT pay that kind of money for a trial.
How much did everyone else spend on their most expensive trial and how did that compare with what you're paying day of?

My hair trial was $60 - and that was with a cut!!!
I've been going to the same girl since I was 4 years old!!
I haven't had a make-up trial and I'm not 100% sure if I even will!

Personally I think they are overrated!
I go to Lush its on 3rd Ave and like 83rd st..And I think the trial was around $125( go to Grace-- shes awesomeeeee and def worth it) She also does make up but I went to Nory on 3rd Ave and 93 and I think her trial was like $50

hair trial with angela's hair design was $35 and day of is $100

Pilo arts has always been expensive they do great work so they charge alot...I've used them numerous of times..they are the 'salon' of Brooklyn

my hair trials were $40 and $55 each, and my makeup trial was $40 (with airbrush!) That is waaaay too much for a trial!

my most expensive trial is the one I ended up booking with and the trial was $120 for makeup and hair. But she deducts that if you end up booking with her and getting a package of at least 5 girls which I did

I spent $140 on my hair trial, but it was in Manhattan at the Aveda studio. It was a lot but in the grand scheme of things I just su cked it up!

YEP! I was just going to post that I had my trial with and booked with Stephanie from Lush (which is down the block from Pilo Arts) and it was around $130.
My makeup trial with Anne DeMarco at Rouge was like $140! Which is nuts, I know, but I really loved my makeup.
These are the ONLY two areas where I have overspent...meaning in 'real life' (not wedding world) I would never have spent that much! But I agree, those prices are INSANE but I was willing to pay the price for the results I was looking for.
I don't want to look at the receipts after the wedding!

that is absolutely out of control for a trial imo
my hair trial is $75 - but i bought my dress at village brial in babylon so i get a free hair trial.... i am not sure what the cost is day of....
makeup i am using a friend from high school that does makeup professionally and i am paying $60 day of
