3/23 - Janet and her in-laws have not been seeing eye to eye on many things. Keith's wish was never to be on life support if there was no hope of recovery. Thus Janet gave the approval to remove it. But her in-laws said no. They now have to do 'more' tests to confirm and prove once more that there is zero brain activity so the respirator can be removed!
That is my worst nightmare.....I feel so bad for her....

This is why a Health Care Proxy and Living Will are so important. Such a shame the families can't get a long like this in the end. All they have right now is each other.

Also a DNR needs to be in place.
This is the so hard. This is not what anybody needs right now.

That's horrible. They're trying to hold onto a false hope. I'm praying for Janet to have strength right now.

When this type of situation occured back during the Terri Schiavo case was occuring. I couldnt help but thinking.....since when do parents get legal rights instead of husbands or wives!!!!!
Once I got married I thought my husband was entitled legally and emotionally to make all decision.....why should anyone have to make a living will when we have our vows to protect us?
I dont get it....no parents should interfere when there is a spouse to make decisions like this, no matter how horrible they are.

they don't, and Terri's husband made the final call. her parents did a 'great' job of doing anything possible to make it as difficult as possible though. that whole situation was horrible

I totally agree this is the last thing that she needs to be adding to her plate right now. I understand how devastating this is for his parents, too but I hope that they can find the strength to accept their son's wishes and make peace with it. Even if his wishes differ from their own. What a heartbreaking situation!
