I have to have all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just got home from the dentist and he told me he is highly suggesting that I have all 4 pulled. Mind you I didn't even know that all 4 of them came in. They never bothered me and I have had them for years. Now he is saying that there isn't enough room so they are going to start to decay even though I take care of my teeth so they need to go!
I figure having 4 of them pulled I won't be able to really eat for a few days -- that should get me moving on the diet!!!!
Oh - and he is going to be doing my teeth whitening $600 later!

I did that too....all 4 at once....you'll eat after the first few hours....especially if you're doped up on pain meds (and that's the only way to survive it....at least I thought so). Good luck!

maybe you can talk him into doing 2 at a time...and if you do that, then do the two from the same side at once so that you can eat on the other side!

Re: What a way to start my wedding diet.....
Thanks Ladies. I am planning on all 4 at once I have to talk to the Oral Surgeon and see what he says. They are already extracted so I am hoping its not as bad as if they were impacted.
I like pain killers hahaha!

Re: What a way to start my wedding diet.....
i just re-read your post...
...i'm not a dentist, but i've studied teeth for a long time (i'm a physical anthropologist and i specifically study human remains from excavation sites). The only way teeth will decay is if you get cavities in them, and the only way to get cavities is if you don't brush regularly and bactieria digest the sugar residues on your teeth.
If they haven't been bothering you, and you've been brushing & cleaning, and there are no cavities (or incipient cavities), i would get a second opinion!!!
Getting your wisdom teeth pulled is not only painful but also VERY EXPENSIVE!!! So, please please please make sure you actually need to get them removed before you pay him a lot of money and go through that pain.

Re: What a way to start my wedding diet.....
i had all 4 of mine pulled at once and it wasn't too bad. the tylenol w/ codine helped a lot too! i pretty much ate whatever i wanted to right away. the only bad thing is that food sometimes gets stuck in the holes that are left, and that can be unpleasant. i know what your dentist is saying about the tooth decay. for my situation, my mouth is just too small to hold the wisdom teeth, and even though i brush at least 3 times a day and floss, they would have still decayed (same as a cavity) because they were too far back to reach properly w/ a toothbrush. also, it could have caused the teeth next to them to decay becuase i couldn't clean those properly because of lack of space, 10 years later, i'm still VERY happy i took them out. i actually have room in my mouth, and am still cavity free! good luck to you!!

Thank you but I trust my dentist. He said that decay is going to begin it is at the early stages so I should take care of it now. Seeing how fantical I am with my teeth (i go to the dentist every 4 months or so for a professional cleaning) it has nothing to do with me not brushing. I am not concerned about the money I have insurance and have no problems paying of what they don't cover.

Great, just giving you the heads up that some dentists are overzealous. About 10 years ago my dentist insisted i get braces because my 2 front teeth on the lower jaw ever so slightly overlapped...i thought he was insane for telling me that, but i went to an orthodontist anyway to see what he had to say, and luckily he sent me home!
