So this week i had one of my clinical rotations and i did it at Brunswick Psychiatric facility... and WOAH! these people are off their rockers. but i LOVED IT!!! im shocked... i really didnt think i was going to like it and i loved it... but i went and sat in with the children in the Ward and their stories are soo sad.. i wanted to bring this little 4 year old home with me what a little cutie pie! but his little firend who was 6 took a swing at me, pulled my hair really hard and tried to hit my head on the desk.. he kinda freaked me out but i just feel sorry for him that violence is all he knows!!
so all in all.. with the exception of the 6yr old.. i loved this rotation!! just thought id share! ... hope you dont mind!

i'm glad you liked it!!! That's great. i don't think i'd be strong enough to work with people in those conditions.. i'm just way to sensitive, especially when it comes to children suffering from things like that. so you def. must be a strong person who's dedicated to her work...!!!

thanks... honestly i thought it was going to be horrible... i was really worried that it was going to be like that movie girl interrupted with angelina jolie... and it wasnt EXACTLY like that but man was it close.. they werent as young as in the movie but their probelms were very similar... but if you have a sense of humor it makes the work there alot easier

you know i could totally see that.. i felt like i was going insane being in there for a week.. so i cant imagine what it would be like to be there for a couple of weeks.. alot of the patients (which i kept calling inmates all week ) were substance abusers with no real 'mental' problems.. and they were leaving with more then what they came in with .. very sad.. they are discharged as soon as they no longer pose harm to themself or others.

yea its sad..the field is tough sometimes , but in the end its very rewarding..the guys i have are all schizophrenics..so they really off there rockers especially if they don't take their meds! but all in all they're cute!
