Last night FH and I went out with his family for dinner to celebrate his brother's college graduation. We were planning on meeting up with one of my BM's at a bar later that night to celebrate her graduation, but, as we were eating dinner I get a call from my cousin asking if we could come by cause her babysitter cancelled on her. So we agree
FH and I travel out to their house and decide to take the kids (my ring bearer and flower girl btw) out to see Shrek the Third.
We're sitting in the theater watching the movie and the next thing I know something is flying towards the movie screen and I turn to grab my cousins to protect them and realize FH isn't in his seat, he is lying in the aisle on the floor!
I get up and run over to him, luckily he was conscious but he was holding his head, something had hit him hard. Turns out one of the CEILING PANELS fell down and crashed on his head!!!! Apparently the air conditioning duct was leaking and caused the panel to get soggy consequently fall. Talk about negligence!
Thankfully he's okay so far. We took him to the hospital by ambulance and they said he had a concusion and that he needs to take it easy.
I just keep thinking if FH and my 8 year old cousin had swapped seats I don't even know what kind of shape he would be in!

Re: What a weekend!
yea I can honestly say it was the most scary situation I have experienced so far in the 25 years I've been alive.
For a split second I felt helpless. He was on the floor and the kids were looking at me on the verge of freaking out and everyone in the theater was screaming for an ambulance.
BUT it was in THAT second that I knew I had to pull it together because if those kids saw me freak out it would be over.

Oooh my goodness, thank goodness he's ok and it wasn't anything heavier...although to knock him out it had to be pretty heavy. Did he fill out an accident report?

yea it was pretty heavy. It was about a four foot by three foot panel that was soaked with water which fell about a good 10-12 feet before hitting him...
The police filled out an accident report, we haven't it from them yet though.

no I called my cousin and her and her husband came to the theater and her husband took the kids home and my cousin came with me to the hospital. It was my first time driving steve's car too and I was trying to call his parents at the same time. I don't know how I didn't end up in a car accident myself.

OMG thats horrible!!!! glad he's ok! If it was me, the theater would be paying for my wedding and more!!!! If it was your cousin it could have been alot worse! You did good though by keeping your cool around the kids. once adrenaline starts pumping you would be amazed at what you can do!
