What are people doing for table numbers?

What are you all doing for table numbers. I'm not interested in using the ones they provide @ the reception site.

Re: What are people doing for table numbers?

We are using the ones the hall supplies. Some of the girls here had some unique ideas. Some used names of places they had gone to together (cities) or baseball stadiums and things like that.

Re: What are people doing for table numbers?

We aren't using numbers at all, but instead are naming the tables after famous streets in NYC. Our theme is Winter in NY, so it fit well for us. There were so many great ideas on here for this. Try to do a search for 'Table names' and see all the great ideas out there. Good Luck

Re: What are people doing for table numbers?

My first idea was to name the tables after dances, which I still really like, but I can't find enough dances (22 tables)

So now we are using the 'this date in history' concept. Each place card will have the year. There will be a picture frame on each table with the year in large print, and underneath we will have what happened. Then on the inside left of the menu card, I am writing all the years and what happened. I got the information from the history channel website

I think it's a good idea - This is the first time I a, posting the idea - what does everyone think?

Re: What are people doing for table numbers?

We are thinking of doing Counties in Ireland as our table names

I dont know if I want to do numbers and counties or just the counties?

I just imagine it would be hard to find your table without a being in a numbered order? what do you think?

Re: What are people doing for table numbers?

I think its a great idea to use the counties. I don't think people will have a hard time finding the tables. Most people usually know during the coctail hour who they are sitting with and if they see people at a table they will know to join them

Re: What are people doing for table numbers?

I think we are going to a 'This Year in Time' type thing but with our lives -- so Table 1976 will be the year my FI was born, 1996 the year we met, etc. Then for each table we'll put a picture and a little description of what occurred. Of course, I have no idea how I'm going to make these, but I guess we'll figure it out.

Re: What are people doing for table numbers?

Sheppy, soooo cute! what a great idea We're going to do 'love' words ...

about finding your table ... I was at a wedding where the bride had the wait staff helping w/ the locations. Another wedding had the seating arrangements written on a chart instead of table cards showing the layout of the room, w/tables named. I liked both ideas!

Re: What are people doing for table numbers?

I am not interested in using the site's numbers either so I will make my own.
I am now scouting for inexpensive picture frames and then I will make the numbers on the computer.

Re: What are people doing for table numbers?

One of my BM is an artist, so she is going to handpaint the numbers with some type of sunflower design and I'll have them propped up on holders (like small plate holders).

nrvbrd, I am doing the same thing. I have been looking for inexpensive ($1.00 - $2.00) gold picture frames. Richsbride, can you tell me where you found your picture frames.

Re: What are people doing for table numbers?

We are doing table names as well as numbers. We decided to name the tables after lighthouse ssince we are having our wedding on the water (John Anthony's), my FH loves boating, etc. We are going to personalize the names to the guests at each table. Our family tables will be Montauk and Fire Island; guests from New Jersey will be Cape Hatteras...

Re: What are people doing for table numbers?

Cynthia,
Feel free to use it. My FMIL loves lighthouses as well and she is so excited that we are doing the lighthouse theme.

FYI...I actually found a website that lists lighthouses by state, which will make it very easy for me to personalize the table names.
