What are some things you are doing to make your wedding very unique?

VERY good idea and a great thread!!!

We are walking back after our kiss to 'all you need is love' by the beatles. I figured it would kind of 'lighten up' a very serious hour long catholic mass!! plus we saw something similar done in one of me and FH's fave movies!!

I'm going to have a bag-piper outside our church b/c I'm irish...

That's really all I can think of that we are going to do to make it 'our own'. Other than that, I'm pretty traditional

We are huge international travelers, so each table is going to have a theme of a country we have visited.

The bar will also offer three of our favorite beers from country's we have visited.

it's hard-- we are doing a lot of little things here and there that just make it our own. taking a traditional idea like a groom's cake and making it to be a wine bottle (FH's fave) with grapes around it-- b/c that's so him.

things like that i think will make our wedding 'ours' and if you think about doing the same thing for yours-- just think about you and your FH's personality then it will be unique and your guests will remember it for being your own!

we are naming our tables after my FH's favoriate hobby- Baseball Stadiums around the US. He travels to games and photographs the stadiums. So he made table name cards using his photographs, and included a brief history of the stadium.

We're doing the same thing - although i'll be searching online for the pictures.
our wedding will be Game 1 of the world series so we thought it would be a good idea.

1.)Small wine/ olive oil bottles for invites(from region): with invite written on label (easy to do because of small # of guests)

2.)Using fabric from my mother's wedding dress for Chuppah.

3.)Using small pictures attached to bo-k of those who have passed on.

4.) Having gelato cart available for later in the evening.

5.) Not having bridesmaids, flowergirl/ring bearer

6.) Best friend and father walking me down the isle.

7.) Standing ceremony

8.)One big horse shoe shaped table

9.) No one is allowed to bring a camera because we don't want pictures of people taking pictures, and we want people to relax. We will be making a DVD of our photos that will be sent to everyone. (we happy picture happy people in our family who will never put the camera down)

Thanks I guess when you have such a small wedding it is easier to play and have unique themes. We really want our wedding to be full of our own vision. Very untraditional but full of love, and that is what counts.

OMG! Seeing this bumped makes me miss all my old LIW buddies!

Well, first of all we are having a Star Wars themed wedding. These are some of the ideas we are implementing:

1. All the music for our ceremony is coming from the Star Wars soundtracks.

2. Our invitations have silver stars on them.

3. Our tables will be named after places in the movies.

4. I am trying to think of a way to incorporate the 'I Love You' 'I Know' exchange between Han Solo and Princess Leia into our vows.

5. I am having a custom groom's cake in the shape of Darth Vader's mask made.

6. The cake topper will be action figures.

Things that are different, but not Star Wars related:

1. Instead of bubbles or birdseed, we are releasing balloons with postcards attatched.

2. Instead of a guest book we are having a photograph album and a polaroid camera. My nephew will take a pic of each person/couple as they come and they will then write a personalized note on the bottom of the picture once it develops.

3. For the reception, we are having a pig roast, along with catered food.

FH is from australia so we are having koalas as a cake topper. also at dessert time we are having Tim Tams put out, which are australian chocolate cookies.

A rock climbing cake topper.

A calypso band at CH

A chocolate fountain

Rose petals thrown instead of bird seed

A wish bowl instead of a sign in book

Not having place cards, printing everyones names in 11 x 13 picture frames, naming the tables along with numbers

A sand ceremony instead of a candle ceremony

I'm have 10 of my nieces and nephews be page bearers and they will all ring bells and walk down the aisle before me saying The Bride is Coming, The Bride is Coming.

I'm having a Breast Cancer Awareness basket featuring all my favorite 'think pink' goodies. (Car Magnets, pins, and Bracelets!) in memory of my mother who lost her battle to breast cancer in 2001.

I still haven't decided where to place it, but it will be somewhere in the lobby I think.

one reading at ceremony in spanish
dance lessons to choreograph our first dance
