Out of the places I looked at (at least 16 of them) Flowerfield and Land's End were most expensive. I was able to get a GREAT deal at the Crescent Beach club...$75 a person! So I originally booked that, but my heart belonged to Flowerfield...so I saved and saved.

Wow, was that price for an afternoon becausze I payed more than double that.

they must have liked you because they quoted me $125 for a saturday night in JANUARY- which I thought was unreal since you wouldn't even be able to use the outside deck or anything like that....

I was able to get Carlyle for much less than that- they threw in a lot of extras, lowered the ceremony and per person price as well....

Of course that was for a Friday night in January- and we booked only 7 months in advance, so we basically walked in there and said, 'we have 150 people, what do you have open and what will you do for us.'

contrary to popular belief- you get better rates if you book CLOSER to the date, not further out. I used to sell weddings at a well known LI hall- the whole 'raising the price for next year' schtick is just to get your deposit and you locked in. It's a scare tactic...

However, if you book less than a year out, you are more able to get deals. This is because most brides book well in advance. If a date doesn't book- it probably won't book.. so if a couple comes in and wants that date, it's money the venue didn't plan on-= it's like a bonus... so they are more willing to work with you.

Doing this, my friend was able to get the Westbury Manor for $50 per person... (with a high minimum of 250 people)..

However, it really shows how much per person price is marked up where they can still make a profit and it's all about supply & demand... if that date isn't in demand, you can get it for a steal.

No that was for a Friday night wedding with the ceremony there. I got married Easter weekend in 2003, so it was Good Friday, that may have been why I got such a great deal. We had to book it!!! However, I really loved FF so I paid a lot more to have my wedding there instead. I also feel I got a great price for FF!
But as for the Crescent, I know a lot of girls who were married there and paid way more than what my wedding would have costed. I was very lucky to get that quote.

So a wedding a Oheka on a Saturday night would cost 68,000?

$290pp x 200 = 58,000 + 10,000 site fee = 68,000

OMG!!!

I forgot to add that you get the castle for the entire day - like 9 a.m. until 11 p.m.

If you are looking at Oheka, I suggest the off season and Monday - Thursday. When we looked for 125 people I came up with $46K total (all vendors) at $165pp - no extras though.

I got a quote for the catering of $23K for 75 people in Jan or Feb 2005 (with the site fee). You would still have to account for flowers, band (or DJ), photo/video and all the other vendors.
