I wanted to know what brides ARE ACTUALLY DOING . Thank you!
For example: I am NOT: Making baskets for out-of-towners, nor for the bathroom. OR making STD cards. No bubbles, no disposable camera, etc. No Candy Buffet...No custom Isle runner, no 'bride/groom' sweater/hats/etc. stuff. No Ice carving, no renting of linens, Keeping guest list to under 125 (hope total count is 75-100), Possible no limos (Ceremony at RH)...haven't decidied, no 'formal bridal party' just my fiance's kids walk, no program menus, no cry packs, no 'we do' letters, no Unity Candle.
I AM DOING DIY Custom projects: Invites, Card Chest, Ring Pillow, Sign-in book w/pen, Cake Topper, Table CP, Favors, Bride & Groom toasting glasses, table numbers, place cards, cake servers

I am not having a mc. I am getting married on a sunday kind of off peak. a small wedding getting married on the RH so I just need a limo to drop me off I shop around for everything (even if that mean calling 10 limo companies and meeting with 5 djs and looking at 4 florist)

We were considering cutting out limos to save $ because our ceremony is at the RH. FH's uncle has a limo service so he might help us out and in that case, we will use limos. I have not looked at florists yet, but we are not going crazy with flowers and might not have the guys wear boutonnieres. We are also keeping the guest list small to save $. We really just want close family and friends there anyway. Also, we plan to do our own wedding albums instead of getting them from the photog. That is all I can think of right now. I want to hear other ideas as well!

we did not have the following
* slipper baskets * table numbers (just used the ones the hall provided) * 'We Do' letters * cry packs * OOT baskets * flowers for church * STD cards * aisle runner * disposable cameras (they were at my bridal shower and were a TOTAL waste )
The best way we saved money was by ordering our $600 invitations online (www. uptowndowntown shopping. com) for $325, having a friend make our programs & menus, we only had 1 limobus, and shopping around for EVERYTHING.. We were able to cut corners farther effectively

I'm firing my wedding coordinator.
DIY invites etc... maybe...
Getting rid of open bar and buying cases of vodka, wine, sparkling water, and sodas.
Making my own veil
Making flower/bows for ceremony... maybe ...

P.S. I plan to do some DIY projects as well such as centerpieces. I really love custom aisle runners so I am going to try to make my own. I found really inexpensive, unique invitations that I loved and I ordered a sample. By the time I was ready to order them, they were discontinued! So, now I have to try to scan the sample and make my own. There was a bride who said she could help me. I have to FM her again!

We Do letters are literally letters that spell we do. Usually paint them or put rhinestones to put on dais or cake table

We are NOT doing: -cake topper -slipper baskets -'We Do' letters -cry packs -OOT bags -bathroom baskets -flowers for church -aisle runner (though I wanted to DIY but church doesn't allow runners) -disposable cameras -programs -candy buffet
Cut corners: -2 limos (one is just one way) -low CP's -documentary style video
DIY: -STD's ($135) -invites ($250) -menu's (nothing...using left over invite paper) -memory candle -place cards + donation card in one (somehow)

To save money, we are:
1) using one limo fh and I since we are getting married on site. 2) using our in house flower vendor, the price is just right, we are saving a lot of money by compromising, which is absolutely fine by me. 3)bough a set of invitations already put together just need to be printed..theyre perfect enough to do its job and will be printing them myself. 4)Having dj only, no mc.. 5) Got a great deal on photography. 5)most importantly booked and planned our wedding within 6 months, by doing this we got the deal of a lifetime.

Honeymoon limos (we are renting a passenger van and neighbor's 25 yr old son will shuttle people all day) slipper baskets aisle runner centerpieces (RH gives roses in a vase - enough) toasting flutes table #'s cake knife RD (BBQ at our house) menus
DIY: invites program fans (only because wedding it outside, otherwise wouldn't do) placecards

Yeah, me neither... but we are just taking a few more days by the vineyard we are getting married and calling it a mini honeymoon...
Hopefully we can save enough to do something in Europe next year.

we aren't cutting LOTS of corners but some of the bigger things that are saving us $$$ are:
- no limos (probably) -- we are getting married at our hall and will be there earlier for pictures so nobody will see us arrive. might consider a drop-off, but probably no limos
- sunday afternoon wedding -- partly bc Jews arent supposed to get married on Shabbat (Fri sundown - Sat sundown) and we didnt want to pay a ton for a Sat night wedding that would be starting so late that many of our guests would leave way early. ++ i love daylight
- got a really really really good deal on invites by ordering through a family member
- doing half high/half low centerpices
- only inviting the significant others of people in relationships and not inviting our 100% single friends with a plus one
DIYing lots -- not necessarily to save $$$ but to make things exactly the way i want (fonts, colors, layout, design) etc.
Edit: no slipper baskets (dont want them), most likely no cry packs (dont want them, my mom likes them), etc

Me Too: I am thinking very seriously about this too, but one step further. What about relatives that their spouse died? None are 'dating'. Even my mom, she has a BF that I won't even meet (long story). I know I'll end up pissing somebody off, but I'll deal with it....I guess.

We didnt use limos. We didnt book video which was fine because my family took some GREAT videos! They caught everything and now all I have to do is send it out to get edited. We didnt use high centerpieces. I used my regular hair girl who charged me 45 bucks for my gorgeous hairstyle that would have probably cost 300 if a 'wedding' hairstylist did it. Also, makeup was a friend who wouldnt charge me anything...I think thats it...

oh yes, i'm using my regular hair girl too -- she is charging me $75 (coming to my house) but it's still at least half of what anyone else quoted me. she's done my family's hair since i was 12 (cuts and for special occasions)

I'll also add that we didnt do pro-engagement pictures. i bartered with a work friend of mine who is a great photographer (i did a painting for her, she took 2 sessions of pix for us)
