to make your wedding unique? What little details are you adding? What traditions are you foregoing in place of something new?

I might be naming tables after various artworks or artists. (like using different Monet waterlilies paintings) I might get easels to put the placecards on and then I haven't decided if I would use picture frames or something similiar. The place cards would be cards of actual paintings with the names writing on them maybe like this (I'm am just tossing around this idea no definites yet)

Since we are bikers our wedding has a harley davidson theme.
Our invitations are a bride and groom on a motorcycle, our entrance song is born to be wild, my keep garter is a harley davidson garter, we are having a HD cake cutting set, and cake topper, and our place card holders are goblets.
Since my parents are of 2 different religions (my dad is jewish and my mom is catholic. I was raised catholic. We are having a full mass) at the reception I am going to have my dad do a jewish blessing.

Ooooh, very pretty.
We tossed around doing a table theme...we met in the copy room at work and were going to name tables relative to that room. But we felt that might go over most of the heads in our two families. I think we'll just go with what the place provides...save time, energy & money.

So far, we are doing a few different things. We are having our Save The Dates look like passports with all of the information inside (we are in a long distance relationship), all of the table names are going to be places we have been together (we travel ALOT) and each table is going to have a bottle of red and a bottle of white wine from the vineyard that my FI has grapes. I am sure I will think of other things too...

I am having Kissing Bells, seating card frames, instead of throwing the b-ook and garter we are having our parents wedding song played and have them dance to it and then give each mother a b-ook and each father a garter (FILs will be married 40 years a week for my wedding and my parents will be married 31 years next year), my centerpieces are a 1/2 dozen long stem roses so each woman at each table will take a rose home, I am putting the table numbers and creating menus and putting them in frames and I am going to take a picture with the bride having her reception at the same place as me (Chippa )

We are having casablanca liilies put in our centerpieces with other flowers, having custom made hershey miniature chocolates scattered on the table,with custom made wrappers, and instead of tradional place cards , they are going to be in a holder thast looks like a heart with a pick that comes out of the top and later on you can add a picture instead of the place card, you can see them at www.jbemporium.image.org style# 5302 And we are toying with the idea of giving all the ladies a pink rose on there way out when they leave the reception. If anyone else has anymore ideas feel free to post them- keep them coming- I am always looking for new ideas.

Christine-I love your placecard idea!! Don't worry, I'm not stealing it! What if you did something like this to make it easier to read? Just a suggestion...
Or you could leave the image in the text box area and just make it lighter so the text would stand out more. I'm not that good at photoshop so I can't show you!

I went to a wedding and the bride had two beautiful wedding dresses, one for the ceremony and a different one for the reception. She got the idea when She went to one of her friends weddings and they were from china, it was a special custom. I was wondering if anyone knew what it meant. Maybe good luck or something. I was thinking of doing it but wanted to know the meaning before I went and did it.

Like stacymacy mentioned, I too am wearing two dresses. My ceremony gown is very formal with a 12 foot train, but my reception dress is very informal with a corset-style bodice.
Also, we are not using flowers, save the bridal bouquets and boutenniers. <----(Sorry I can't spell.) Instead we are having an ice sculpture at each table that holds a bottle of champagne for the guests.
Other than that, we are still deciding the little details.
