What are you going to call the in-laws?

What are you going to call the in-laws?

Just curious what everyone is planning on calling their in-laws after the wedding...mom/dad? First names? etc...

I'm sticking to first names, but I normally can have a whole conversation with them without ever using their name so it works out lol. I don't know if i could ever call them mom and dad ...those are reserved for my parents

DEF first names...there is no way I am referring to them as mom & dad (evne though FH calls my mom 'mom') but we like my mom so it makes sense

I'm calling my fmil her nickname which is Chris(real name is Christine). Fh's dad passed away. I just don't feel right about using mom.

Hehe, I think I avoided calling them anything for a good 5 years. FH and I finally talked about what we're supposed to be calling them though and established that first names are good.

this is a weird one. like everyone else said, i can have a whole conversation and not call them anything so i think i will just stick to this, lol

I call them by their first names. I think the only time I refer to them as mom and dad is when I am writing a birthday/holiday to them (but technically that is coming from both FH and I). I do also refer to them as Mama and Papa O'Connor.

Fh's mom seems very proper in some ways. So I called them Mr and Mrs. for years when we dated. I didn't like it but I went back and forth as to whether or not she'd be insulted if I called her by her first name. She finally corrected me once we got engaged. So now I call them by their first names. It would feel weird to say mom and dad but I think it's sweet too. So I would make myself do it and I think it would become more natural over time. But again, I don't feel comfortable until they suggest it. My parents have already welcomed my FH to call them mom and dad or their first names if he's not comfortable. He has yet to call them mom and dad.

i feel really weird calling people that are older than me by their first names. i'll probably call them Mr. and Mrs. K still

Considering FH calls his parents by their first names, I do too! He calls mine Mr. and Mrs. Meyers
