Just curious what everyone is planning on calling their in-laws after the wedding...mom/dad? First names? etc...
I'm sticking to first names, but I normally can have a whole conversation with them without ever using their name so it works out lol. I don't know if i could ever call them mom and dad ...those are reserved for my parents

I call my FIL's by their first names, Eric & Sherri, I always have. I call his mom 'Sher'.
My mom has been with my stepdad for almost 14 years now and I still call him 'Michael'...I have never used the word Dad in my life since my parents divorced when I was a baby, so its weird for me to say.

my fsil (who is married to FHs brother) calls the inlaws mom and dad because they made a huge stink about it. (she didnt want to but they reeeeaklly wanted to be called mom and dad)
To me you are not my mom OR dad (i have 2 of each to begin with!) so no reason to confuse it

My parents always called their in laws mom and dad so I've grown up with it so both DH and I call each others parents mom and dad

this topic drives me insane.
My parents are the people who SCREAM when someone calls them Mr & Mrs *****. They hate it. All of my friends parents have insisted that I call them by their first names growing up as well.
I am aware that it is proper and respectful, but to me, it is so impersonal! Its so weird to me!!
But they do not allow me to call them by their first names, so i nicknamed them mama & papa.. I will just stick with that after the wedding too.
I usually dont call them anything at all unless i am emailing, text messaging or addressing a greeting card.

Never ever mom and dad....my mother thinks it's weird that I refuse to and that my FSIL doesn't call her mom...but ick I hate it!
My dad told FH the other day to call them by their first names!
I love FH's parents....they have been ecouraging my for years to call them by their first names...but I felt it was disrespecful....so instead I made up nicknames for them (and my FBIL has done the same kinda)

i went with mr. & mrs. when we first started dating, but that quickly changed to first names
i think i'll prob switch to mom and dad when we get married - it's started already sort of

FMIL got jealous that FH called my mom 'mom.' Not jealous that he called her that, jealous because I didn't call her mom. I thought that was sweet so I call her 'mom' in portuguese and FFIL dad in portuguese.
It felt a little unatural at first but I'm getting used to it

First names and sometimes mom . I have trouble with Dad bc my father passed away when I was little so it doesn't feel right. In a card, I address to mom and dad because it's from us.
The whole Mr. & Mrs. I don't get. I never called them that. Maybe because when I met them I was 28 years old already. I dunno. I feel like an adult calling another adult Mr & Mrs when you first meet is kinda weird. If I was a kid, yea. But even then, I grew up on first names with my friends parents. We were all so close. If I called them Mr. & Mrs. it would be like I was talking to one of my teachers lol

For years I called them Mr. and Mrs. and the yelled at me everytime saying they feel too old to not be called by their friend names. Even after that I still called them Mr.and Mrs. I was just brought up that way.
I don't know if I'll call them mom and dad. Maybe one day.
My Dad has already cornered FH saying that he can call him Dad if he wants too. Oh my dad is nuts LOL

Probably their first names. FH sometimes even call his own parents by their first names. Not sure what FH is going to do for my parents. He hasn't really had a conversation where he had to address them by a name, so he's gotten away with it.
Obviously though in cards I call them mom and dad. I kinda think it feels weird to call them mom and dad when I call mine own that, but we will see with time what happens.

I call my FMIL's by her first name, and my FFIL by Mr. first name, because my FH and his dad share the same name. My Fh call my parents by their names. But when we discuss either parents we say mom and dad.
