Many of us have spent a lot of money for our gowns and the way things are these days it seems rare for dresses to be passed down. I am thinking about using the train of my gown as a christening blanket for my children. I am going to have each child's name embroidered with date. What are you ladies intending to do with your gowns after the wedding?

im keeping mine, probably just box it up. My FMIL had a purse and garter made out of her wedding dress for me and my FSIL so I may do that for my daughter or FDIL for her wedding

i'm not sure yet, but i really love the idea of using the gown for baby items- either special blankets, or the christening gowns. i don't expect any future children will want to wear it, i'd hate for it to go in a closet forever!

wow-- that's a great idea-- reusing it in that way!!! I think I may borrow that idea!
I was going to preserve it--- which stinks because you can never try it on again--once its sealed it needs to stay that way! But if I make new dresses for my kids it will be so special!!!
Great idea!

one of my friends made a teddy bear for her for her baby shower using the material from her BM dress. i thought that was cute too.

I'm going to clean it right away, but I want it in my closet for like a year before I preserve it. Then hopefully I'll get it out of my system and THEN maybe pack it away forever. My mom's dress is hanging in her closet, and we loved looking at it as kids. I don't want mine to be unaccessible.

I am planning on using it to have my Children's christening outfits made out of it.

We always looked at my mom's dress as kids also. She just recently got rid of it & I was more devastated about it than she was.
