Over the weekend my Fiance, his mother, my mother and I got together and started up our guest list.
Well after it was all put out on paper we are up to 228 people and thats not including people from our jobs or our friends.
A lot has to do with the '& guest' since most of our cousins are our ages and we figure to invite with guest but most of them arent even in relationships.
My question is, since FH & I are paying for this wedding ourselves, do we really have to invite '& guest' with everyone or can we just invite people alone, espeically our cousins?
Thanks in advance for you help!

Re: What are you ladies doing about '&guest'?
we decided to invite everyone with a guest... originally we were only doing it with people in relationships or people that didnt know anyone... but we decided to invite everyone over 18 with a guest

This was our delemma to but we decided that if they were not in a serious relationship than they did not get the & guest invite. Think about it this way do you really wanna have a bunch of people you don't know at your wedding?

We were worried about this too but we decided to just invite everyone “& guest” even if they weren’t in a relationship. We got lucky though and I think only one person brought someone just to have a date! But it’s totally ok if you don’t do and guest, esp for family since they’ll know other people there.

I agree and feel the same way I'm not inviting everyone with a guest

That's my biggest thing.. It's our wedding and I feel like I don't want a bunch of people I don't know there. For people that won't know anyone at the wedding I will obviously invite &guest but as far as my family goes, unless I know the bf or gf I am not inviting &Guest because it adds up too much!!!!

we personally did all our single guests with a +1 but I know a good handful of those people will most likely not bring a guest anyways (like some of my aunts and cousins).

FH & I decided to only invite guests to those we knew who were in commitied & acknowledged relationships (My cousin has been w/his GF for 5 yrs but never brings her around or acknowledges her as his GF, so she does not get an invite)
We have a few older friends who change their significant other every day so.....guest invite for them!

Aside from 2/3 people, I'm only inviting people with 'and guest' if they are in an actual relationship. If they start the relationship 2 months before my wedding sorry lol.

We invited all guests over a certain age with a +1. Some have opted to use it, much to our dismay, others are coming alone thankfully!

Re: What are you ladies doing about '&guest'?
we are inviting only people 18 and older and aren't giving guests unless they're in a relationship- living together, dating for years, or engaged. I think that this is appropriate, otherwise the guest list would get out of control!
you can make whatever rule you want to...just make sure that you don't make exceptions, or others may get their feelings hurt...

I wouldn't worry about inviting family w & guest. they'll all know each other. I'd only invite them w a guest if you know the person they'd be bringing.

Re: What are you ladies doing about '&guest'?
Anyone in a serious relationship (6+ months), engaged or married got a +1 to the wedding, but it wasn't addressed to 'and guest' it was addressed to their partner's name.
The only people not in those situations that got guests were members of the BP and people who knew nobody coming to the wedding...which ended up only being 4 'and guest's.

We invited everyone with a guest and very surprisingly, we are getting a lot of people coming without a guest. Go figure.

Re: What are you ladies doing about '&guest'?
IMO if you & your FH are paying for the wedding you should be in charge of the guest list. You say that you are at 228 people & that does not include your & FH friends. I know that some people have very big families but if you have a lot of friends you are going to end up with close to 300 people invited. I think the best thing to do is figure out your list with family, friends & co-workers first before adding any '& guest.'

Re: What are you ladies doing about '&guest'?
I have not read any of the responses but I will tell you what we are doing.
Right now I have 18 days left and are in the thick of &guest and +1.
We decided that we would invite &guest on ony 2 occasions.
1. If the person was in a relationship. Like we knew they had a BF/GF/finace that was longer than 3ish months.
2. If the person would not know ANYONE at the wedding.
For number 2 we did about 4 and guest. For #1 about 4.
We did not have the money to invite every single with a guest.
Do what you feel is right and what your budget can afford.
Oh, and when we got the one invite back with &guest that was NOT invited with a guest, we called and said sorry, cant do it. (not like that, obvioulsy)
Good luck. This whole rsvp thing is crazy!!!

Re: What are you ladies doing about '&guest'?
I'm inviting every adult (actually 18+) with a guest. I know a lot wont bring it, and it does s uck because +1 really ADDS to your list I only wanted 200, and we have 280 now!
I just didnt want to be rude, and I wanted people to be comfortable and not feel like because they arent engaged or married they cant bring a guest. You dont have to though. That was jmo
