What are you looking for in a photographer?

Do you prefer the traditional or the digital?

Why did you decide to book with them?

I am going to start looking for one soon, just wanted some feedback. TIA

I am not a fan of traditional pics, i want just a few with our families and bp and thats about it...I love photojournalistic pictures.

I wanted pics that really stood out from other photographers...I wanted a photographer with their own style. When i started looking at photographers online, alot of the pics were very nice dont get me wrong but nothing really stood out and made one very different from the other...When i saw Angelica glass her work stood out and it was exactly the look i wanted for my wedding pictures.

I dont know anything about photography. When I go see the different vendors I will look for the styles of photos that stand out at me. I think its called photojournalism when its modern and not tradional???? I dont know. I I want a videographer, digitalism, whatever, as long as I get good pics and video. I want to go see Sherwood Triart work.

We wanted someone who had quality work, did a combo of traditional and photojournalistic, allowed us to customize our package, and didn't charge an arm and a leg. Oh, and someone with whom we feel comfortable! We found it with Jon from TimeXposures, and I think we'll really enjoy working with him for our wedding!

I agree....i didn't want traditional, but at the same time, I didn't want purely photojournalistic. Angelica kind of does a mix of the two, but in her own unique way. I think her shots resemble fashion photos (think fashion magazines) rather than wedding photos.....needless to say, I chose her too!

I was looking for a photographer with an excellent repuation, someone who was familiar with my reception site and knew the best places/poses to take pictures, I had to see some of their work and love it, and I had to feel comfortable and confident that they would do an amazing job! Proline Studios was perfect for me!

Re: What are you looking for in a photographer?

I didn't know poop about wedding photography so I asked friends for their recs., looked for reviews in the Brides' Reviews section and checked out the photographers' websites. I think looking at all the pictures I decided I didn't want the traditional posed shots and wanted something a little different. Then I met with the photographers. It came down to price and with who I felt the most comfortable.
My advice- 1. Look at pictures and decide what appeals to you most.
2- don't be afraid to use a vendor who isn't on the site (I originally found mine via a friend and never realized that he was a vendor on here until later), 3- and most importantly you should feel comfortable working with him/her. The photographer will be with you all day (they'll probably spend more time with you that day than anyone else)

Good Luck!

eta: forgot to mention---my photographer is Dan Saviano (from Golden Moments)

I love the photojournalism because it gives the impression that you are just hanging out having the time of your life... which you probably are! I will have both a traditional photographer and photojournalist. I chose the digital album so it will have a mix of styles in it. Other than that you want to make sur eyou are compatible with the person. After all they are going to be following you all day long and watching you get ready!

look for someone who is not only talented, but works with you to customize your package, has a good reputation with clients, returns pics promptly, has a good personality and gives you ownership of your proofs!. We're using Thomas Paul Photography & feel very comfortable with Tom He is very accessible and is throwing in an engagement shoot.

I prefer digital b/c your photographer can tell if she/he got the shot on the spot rather than waiting until she/he develops. I also like non-traditional compositions. I picked my photographer b/c when I looked at her albums I felt like I was there--I can see/feel the emotion of those in the pictures and it told the story of the day.

These are the exact reasons we knew she was perfect the second we met with her! FH has been really helpful with planning, but booking with her he was most excited about (besides registering and food tastings.. )
