What are you putting on your invites?

Original post by jes81276

As far as wording goes....

Together with our parents...
Mr. & Mrs. (brides parents) request the honor...
or Mr. & Mrs. (groom's parents) request...

My parents are paying for the reception, FH's parents for nothing, and we are paying for the rest.

Should my parents go on bc they are hosting the reception??????? I would like to put them on bc I feel that they deserve that honor, considering the amount of $$ they are putting out.....and considering FH's parents have offered nothing, and are not even involved in the planning, I don't know if I want to put together w/our parents - does this make sense?

We put both on, we agreed on it whether they would be contributing or not:

Mr. & Mrs. Bride's Parents
and
Mr. & Mrs. Groom's Parents
request the honour or your presence
at the marriage of their children
blah blah blah

I'm putting both on mine. All the parents are paying for the friends that they invite, but not much else. But even if that wasn't the case, I think I'd put both, because they've been helping me out with other things. But how does your FH feel about not having his parents names on there? Does he think it'll cause trouble? If so, then I'd just put them on.

My parents are paying for the reception, so we put

XXXXXX invite you to join them in celebrating the marriage of their daughter
XXXXXX
to
XXXXXX
son of XXXXXXXX

This way his parents names are included to, but it is clear that my parents are hosting.

I think that I might do this...FH doesn't really care either way. The reason I don't want to put together with our parents is bc his parents are not involved with planning AT ALL. Meanwhile, my parents have been with me every step of the way. I could care less about the money part of it, but they never ask about our plans, etc. which makes me feel like why should I put together with our parents when it really isn't?!?!?!?!

Thank you guys for all of your help!!!!!!!

My FIL's are paying for nada...so this is what I did.

Mr. and MRs (bride's parents) request your presence at the marriage of their daughter
Tara...

to Robert...
son of Mr and Mrs. (who did nothing at all)
on the 28th of July 2006.

At least I put them on there (my parents made me)

But the reception card is being returned to my parents.

Re: What are you putting on your invites?

whoever is paying should be at the top of the invite and if both sets of parents were paying (I realize they're not in your case) the bride's family would go first. Same goes for you and FH -- your name goes first. If its your parents paying, something standard is:

Mr. & Mrs. (brides parents)
request the honor of your presence
at the marriage of their daughter
(you)
to
(mr. future husband)

**OPTIONAL: Son of XXXXX***

Date, time, place, etc.

If you put FH's parents on top it implies they are paying, IMO. And if you put 'together with their parents,' that might imply that you are paying.

Re: What are you putting on your invites?

my Dad is paying for just about half of everything so we honored him on the invite by writing:

Mr. Antonio _______ requests to honor of your presence at the marriage of his daughter ______ to __________
