I personally do not care for Palin at all, I just feel she is not ready and is full of alot of half truths. and personally she did not seem to smart in her interview with katie. these are just my thoughts right now. I am still undecided.

Who gives a 'shout out' at a vice presidential debate?
LOL!!!!! I could not believe that either....oh, and couldn't agree more with your last post, too!
PS: The same people who give shout outs at VP debates say things like 'Doggone it.' That one really shocked me.

Re: what are your opinions on the debate?
I was impressed with Biden's answer about the office of the VP and **** Cheney's attempt to pull it out of Article 1. It was probably the most succinct statement of Cheney's argument that I've ever heard. In fact, it's the only coherent statement of the GOP argument that I've ever heard, since the whole legal theory is so way out there.
I also liked his 'stop questioning motives' answer. To me, it felt like Palin had to bring answers around to what she knew (it's all about energy), while Biden knew how to answer the questions posed.
Don't get me wrong, energy independence happens to be my pet issue, but it's not the answer to everything.

Re: what are your opinions on the debate?
I'm SO glad to hear your remarks. After the debates, all the commentators were saying Sarah Palin won and was phenomenal. I was thinking - did we just watch the same debate?
Yes - she was much better than the Couric interview. However, she was CLEARLY reading from a prepared script AND part of being a politician, etc. is being able to turn the question around discreetly if you don't have n an answer or the true answer would be detrimental to your campaign. Outright saying 'I won't answer these questions how the moderator or Joe wants me to' is just f-ing uncouth in my opinion. It goes to her lack of experience and she probably just read outloud and instruction from her advisor 'don't answer the question how they want you to if you don't know the answer.' I thought she barely had facts on her side and when Biden refuted them she never had a response (or at least not one that made sense).
My heart broke a little when Biden started to cry a bit, but that's because I'm a tool.

The terms 'Joe 6-pack' and 'Soccer/Hockey Mom' drive me nuts,. I think she doesnt speak enough to the AMERICAN PUBLIC.. alll demographics not just what she knows. I think she could be great, just with a little more time under her belt, and some more knowledge of the government,, not just Alaska.
Kim, you couldn't be more right.

I love it though - reading these posts on LIW and LIF. Everyone watches these debates and no matter how unbiased you try to go into it ( myself included ) I feel like everyone is just going to pull out what they thought already.
Before signing online I thought Palin was doing a good not great job - then I signed on and talked to my friends who are Reps and they agreed with me. Then signing on to the message boards you would have thought that she was just standing up there drooling or something. Its human nature, but funny to see in action.

Re: what are your opinions on the debate?
I think the other important thing to remember is while Palin may look cute, and act 'down home' unfortunately our country is currently in a crisis. While the abilities of Obama vs McCain are debatable I just don't think that Palin is ready to take over the job of president if called upon to do so. Winks, a nice hairdo, and rimless glasses can only get you so far. This isn't high school anymore...or at least it shouldn't be.

Re: what are your opinions on the debate?
did anyone other than me catch where Palin called Biden 'Senator O'Biden'? I was dying - and she caught herself, she was trying not to laugh...
I am so torn with this election. I think Palin is OK ... not stellar. She is so 'lay man' which can be good - she is middle class. I just feel like she is not ready, she is not polished, she doesnt have foreign policy experience and you can tell she has been coached.
Biden totally reps the high class business man. He is polished but so damn annoying and pushy.
Ugh - im moving to canada

Re: what are your opinions on the debate?
i thought palin was trying to reach out to her target audience, the hockey moms and the joe 6 pack - she is not eloquent at all - she cannot say NUCLEAR.. it annoyed the wits out of me when she kept saying NUCULR.. she was poised but she comes across as unintelligent, though I am sure she is, she dodged questions and answered around it.. it might have been a tactic she was coached in..
biden i felt connected with the people, he answered questions.. i thought he did a better job than obama in answering and showing where stands on issues..

Re: what are your opinions on the debate?
I feel like Palin was way over rehersed and reading from the script she kept shuffeling around.
I dont think we are going to have ANY major drastic improvements with either canidate at this point.

agreed - Palin did not answer ANYTHING ... she even had the balls to say in the beginning 'I will not answer your questions, I will answer my own'
it killed me - I wanted to hear a debate, I wanted to hear her rebuttles and she didnt deliver. She is way tooooo wordy. She talks in circles to get around tough subjects that she doesnt have an answer for, or she doesnt answer at all. She has a ton of work to do.

I agree with you on the two terms you quoted her saying. I also thought that when she 'hey can I call you Joe' sounded really dumb! She just doesn't sound intelligent although I'm sure she is. She needs to learn to have some class.

Re: what are your opinions on the debate?
I wasn't a fan on Sarah and I didn't know too much about Biden except for a little I read. I think she came off more confident! I expected her to crash and burn. LOL. But she surprised me. I didn't see ehr katie curic interview. But I thought she came off great last night. She talked about energy too much though. I don't think he has a strong prescence (sp?). But he isn't a bad speaker! I feel like both of them dodged some of the questions which was annoying- like did they think we wouldnt notice?? I feel like in these debates, they go in knowing what they intend to talk about and somehow flip a question about one thing into talking about something totally different.

Re: what are your opinions on the debate?
I think Palin did much better than anyone thought she would and Biden held his own. I don't think either of them really won. I do think this debate was MUCH better than the presidential debate....both VP candidates did a better job than either of their running mates IMO.

In general, I do like Palin and find her intelligent BUT, she did not do well at all in the Katie Couric interview- I couldnt believe she couldnt cite any Supreme Court Cases that she didnt agree with!
I thought she did much better last night.
As a side note, I think Biden is a horses asss.
I agree 100% with your whole comment haha

I also laughed at the statement from Biden about the 'bridge to no where'.
I liked the home depot comment, when was the last time he was in home depot??
haha I said the same thing. i turned to my mom and was like WHAT??!! haha
but i respect your opinion about Biden, but for some reason I thought he was kind of arogant last night and a little condescending?! maybe i just dont like him all that much so that's how he came off i dont know

Re: what are your opinions on the debate?
part of me likes that palin said doggone it and i thought her shout out was cute but then there is a part of me that hates her for it i dont know she comes off as quirky and cute to me but is that really something you want in a VP? i think she is more likeable as a person but not sure she is ready for something like VP - and i dont know if its an act or if that is really her personality, its hard to tell....i dont know, she is likeable and i can see why people like my mom like her but i cant see her being VP...on the other hand i cant see Obama being president....so im just really torn - i thought this debate was better than the presidential debate though - biden was alright to me - i think they both did an okay job - palin did better than i expected....id say i sway more toward democrat but in this election im im trying to get informed and the more informed i am, the more i seem to be

Did anyone continue to watch at the end how the families interacted? I always find that very interesting and even though you cant hear what they are saying, I like seeing their expressions and reactions.

YES! THAT IS GOOD!
There was this woman in my nail place that was so ignorant - she would have voted the same way as me though - but I didnt WANT HER TO because her ignorance was just disgusting and she sang it loud and clear so everyone could hear her. Well, as she was leaving someone said that she must be excited for November, and she said that she isnt even registered to vote. Well thank God for small favors. Even though it would have been a vote for 'my' guy it wasnt a vote that I wanted!
If you just skim off the top, its way too easy to say: A = bad B = good
But any EDUCATED person can see the pros and cons of BOTH parties and candidates and make an informed decision. IT SCARES ME when people are 100% certain in their candidate, I feel like they are missing something!
