my mom is wearing a beautiful dark green & my grandma is wearing gold, and my FMIL- as of right now she has no dress- I would be thrilled if she bought one lol
I think your fmil in black is fine- its a striking color that looks good on everyone and do not think it looks like she disapproves if thats what you were thinking

I really dont see anything wrong with black, my aunt wore that to her own daughters wedding. My mom was thinking of it but, I asked her if we can find her something to go with the girls first.

FMIL is wearing black. My mom is also wearing black. Both their dresses look amazing on them.
A lot of moms wear black to weddings, I don't think there is anything wrong with it.

FMIL is wearing a dark aqua color. My mom is wearing plum.
Personally I'm not a huge fan of black dresses, I really love color. I don't think I've ever worn a black dress in my life and I didn't want my mom or FMIL to wear black at my wedding. Neither of them wanted to either, so I didn't have any issues.

Here is what my MIL wore. Its a hrd color to explain.
I don't think black is a bad color... maybe it's just what they're most comfy in... or they LOVE the dress but it just doesn't come in any other color.
my FMIL is wearing this dark blue/in-a-differe-light purple dress. It's cute.

I thought FH was kidding when he told me, but nope, she mentioned it when she was visiting a few weeks ago. They live in FL now and were always a fun, festive couple -- so it fits her, but it's a fall wedding and I just don't understand what would make her think turquiose is ok.
Whatever, it will only look bad in a few pics when my immed. family is photographed with Fh's.

I specifically told them NO black and NO ivory...because I am sure if I didnt they would have never fiigured NOT to get it.
Black, I dont get why people wear it...I mean I get that it is supposed to make you look 'thin' BUT...it is like they are in mourning!
It turns out that FMIL is wearing brown and FH grandma is wearing burgundy.
