What comes first? Mortgage or finding a house you want?
I've been looking online at houses that peak my interest in GA, but am wondering what comes first???

You should definitely get preapproved for a mortgage as soon as possible. They will be able to give you a better idea of what your monthly payments can be and what you can afford.
You can look at houses without being preapproved but you need aa preapproval to submit an offer.

We were pre-approved, which helped prove our seriousness when house hunting. We gave the realtors copies of our letter when making offers so that they knew we could afford the house. It definitely helps and gives you an edge over another buyer.

I agree, I would get pre-approved first so if you see something you like, they know you can get a mortgage.

True, in this area many realtors won't even show you houses without the preapproval letter showing that you can get the mortgage to cover the house. They don't want to waste their time, and apparently many people don't get approved for the mortgage.

My RE give me the name of a few mortgage brokers and then we all got together and figured out what price we could afford.

Mortgage First.
Your house bids will look weak without an approved mortgage to back it up.
