Is there anything TO do besides sending them an invitation? Has anyone gone through this process? I have family in Ecuador that I'd like to invite but I dunno if I need to invite them within a certain time frame or provide any extra documentation for them to come here....TIA

well the people that are coming in from india, dubai, london, australia for our wedding only need the invites to show them its a valid thing. I would send those out as soon as you can so they can apply for it.

good luck!

I don't know if you are getting married at church but we went to our church and the priest made some invitations stating that me and my husband is getting married on such a date and put the church stamp and that worked....

This is the best way. You should address a letter to the U.S. Embassy in Ecuador and state exactly how long you want your relative to stay, as well as provide documentation that you have the money to support them during their stay. If its just a week or two vacation, you may not have to go into such detail.

Another good thing is to have your family members in Ecuador prove that they have something to return to, and that they will maintain their non-immigrant status while visiting the U.S. Such as proving they own a home, and have a mortage on it...that there are young children that are dependent on them....a letter from work showing that they are a full time employee and have been working there for years....etc.

It isn't easy, and there are no guarantees, but with all the additional paperwork you send, supporting your invitation, the better the chances are that they will be able to receive a visa.

i needed to write a letter for them on their behalf that they will be staying with me and i take full financial, medical, etc, responsibilties for them. They then went on an interview with that letter and my wedding invitation. Were keeping our fingers crossed

I wrote an affidavit stating that I'm getting married on such date and location, where she/he is staying and how long she/he staying here...etc and my FH notarized it.
