What did your guests where to your ceremony if it was NOT at the reception hall. I attended a BEAUTIFUL wedding on the 4th and was SHOCKED at how awful everyone came dressed. My family said they would be embarrassed and upset if our guests do that to us.
Most of the girls had their hair done up nicely - and I KNOW that they dressed up - b/c at the reception they were wearing formal wear but - they showed up in SHORTS and TANK TOPS and cut off jeans and capri pants - and basically looked as if they belonged at a bbq - but later they showed up at the reception dressed to the 9's - the church WAS air conditioned so that was NOT the issue

I gues it is wear you live and how you are raised because I come from a very casual family. Jeans and sneakers are appropriate in my family and neighborhood in Queens! I was happy to see so many people at my church ceremony. It was special that so many people cared enough to take the time to come to my ceremony - even people who were not even invited to the reception. I could care less what they were wearing or how their hair was done. I'd take rollers and all!

Niecey, I totally agree with you.
(OK, expecting things to get thrown at me...)
Even though I wouldn't expect this of my family and friends (knowing how they are...), I couldn't care less how people show up for my ceremony. It would mean more to my if they should up in capris and a tank top than for not to have them show up at all. Do these people care about you any less because they aren't dressed up? What happens if you have a four or five hour gap between the ceremony and the reception. What about if you have Friday 5:00pm ceremony, you live in Nassau, you work in Queens, the church is in Queens and the reception is in Suffolk? It means more to show up at the ceremony as you are than to miss it just because you are in jeans.

I agree with AliasPook...Although I would not go dressed like that to someones wedding......I really wouldn't care what people wore to the church...I would just be happy that they made the time to come...especially since my wedding is on a Friday and there is a 4 hour gap in between.
