What do I need if I want to begin scrapbooking?

What are the type of supplies I need?

I want to take all the pictures that we have which are doubles of our HM and other doubles from the past few years and make some scrap books with them. What am I going to need (essentials) and what do you like using to jazz up your books?

And what is a tag - I heard someone talking about 'making tags' at a crop one day in Michael's.

Thanks!

You will need some sort of adhesive (archival), a craft cutter, a craft scissors, a lot of paper and a lot of room for the mess you will make.

I started about a year ago with a Fiskars cutter, adhesive and a kit. its easy, especially if you have double photos to use. whatever you make, just enjoy it.

i went to a few crops at the scrapbook patch in Miller place (nora organises them) and I picked up a lot there

That sounds like a good start. First you have to decide if you want to do a 12x12 or 8 1/2x11 size album. Most people are doing 12x12 now. There are a bunch of scrapbook stores on long island and craft stores too. I just posted to other day a list. Bring your pictures to any scrapbook store and I'm sure they'll help you get started.

I started with my e-party pics. Renee of the scrapbook Patch in Miller Place was wonderful.

Also, check out www.twopeasinabucket.com for other peoples lay-outs- its a great source of inspiration/ideas.

Here's the list:

My favorite is The Scrapbook Patch in Miller Place (631-331-4533). Others are in Farmingville( SB Central), Islip (SB Alley), Cold Spring Harbour( don't remember name), Northport(SB Studio), Levittown(SB Cottage) and on 347 by Smithhaven Mall.(Scrap Away)

Thanks Dubliner and Nora!

I live in the Bronx so Miller Place will be a stretch for me to get to, but there's a JoAnn's in the Palisades Mall and a Michael's in Oceanside where my dad lives so I might start off easy there and then maybe go to SB Cottage one afternoon on a weekend.

I will check out that website. Thanks!
