I REFUSED to pay someone to act like a drunk friend of FH as an MC...ya know?
exactly!!!! Sometimes guests want to mingle and talk with friends and fam or just be left alone at their tables when they are having a conversation with someone, and not yanked out of their seat against their will to put on a straw hat.
OMG!! i was AT that wedding!! straw hats.. grabbed outta u'r seat.. totally annoyed.. yep.. i went to a function like that..
i also hate when they drag the single women onto the floor for the bok toss. i went to a wedding and fh didn't go with me and the bride didn't know i was seeing him.. and she got on the mic and CALLED OUT THE NAMES of every single women in the crowd..

I have VERY few single women coming to my wedding (most friends are already married) - but for those that are, i'm having single red roses put aside for them that i'll give to them privately with a cute little poem.

I can't handle the pushy MCs.
I opted to use the same DJ my father hired for my eparty. Dad knows him from parties that he promotes (yes, my dad throws parties, thinks he's young and ish ) He's a reggae/hip hop DJ that's all about the music.
For the MC we're using my uncle so at least he knows all the family and they may be more willing to deal w/ the requisite corny jokes that these occasions inspire in people..lol. He's MC'ed a good deal of my family's weddings so I am very comfortable he'll do a good job. My family doesn't require much prodding to get on the floor so we'll be ok i think

The bok toss can be fun but its the MOST annoying thing when the damn MC's are making a big deal out of it. I remember when I was young that was the worse part of the wedding. I would never get out of my seat and ERRRRRRRRRR they wouldnt leave me alone

YES!! each one of us BY NAME!! and i'm all on the sideline llilke.. no no.. i'm not single.. i'm just alone tonight.. i have a man.. I HAVE A MAN!!!
no she wasn't hearing it.. i wound up on the floor with a bunch of middle aged and older ladies trying NOT to catch the bok..
i decided right then and there that there would NOT be a bok toss at my wedding..

I am not having an MC at my wedd. But does a DJ also opt as an MC??? I dont want anything announced. Actually I would like if I can announce stuff , like cutting the cake and when everyone eats, I wonder if I can do that???
