What do you all think....(long)

My cousin is getting married in May. She is having the makeup/hair done at her house, and says it will cost between $150-$200. I was going to go along with that, but then she sent a email today wondering who was getting what done and said it was not a big deal if we wanted to get hair/makeup done at our own place.

I know I can get this done for less money and money is soooooooo tight right now. I was thinking about getting my hair done at my place and then getting the makeup done at her house so she can feel like everyone is part of getting ready....

my sister thinks the fun of being a bm's is doing everything together....do you all think it's ok if I get my hair done somewhere else? I'll end up saving myself $75....

I would do it and then just go to her house and get your makeup done.

totally think you should get ur hair done somewhere else... its saving you $$ and she should understand since u are budgeting for your wedding i think its a good idea to have the makeup done at her house to feel like everyone is part of it like u said...

I agree, one is better than nothing and $75 goes a long way. Being that she did say she doesn't care, I wouldn't worry about it .

If I were you I'd do it at my own place, early, if possible. Then you can be there to take pics and assist while they're getting their hair/makeup done. You'll get to save $$ and spend the time together.

I think that's totally fine. You are doing the right thing by offering to get your makeup done and be a part of the festivities, but money is tight and I'm sure she knows that.

I agree with the other brides, it's fine to get your hair done somewhere else and then get your makeup done at her house.

While there is fun in everyone getting ready together, I think in the end it will be beneficial to the bride to have less people around during the ENTIRE getting ready process. Things will be hectic and stressful and the fact that you arrived with your hair done already will save everyone time on her big day!

I think it's totally okay to get your hair somewhere else. For my friend's wedding, we all went our separate ways for hair and makeup. It helped me save some money and we also saved a lot of time.

I totally think it is fine that you get your hair done somewhere else. Your cousin will understand that you need to save money. It isn't like you are doing everything by yourself, you are getting your makeup with her .

I understand from both sides of the story as we all do, for my wedding I want everyone to get ready together but I also know that it's a pain to shell out a lot of money, if you feel you can at least do one, then I would do it so there are pictures of you girls all together getting it done and it will feel special to her. I mean that is what I want, I want like a 'girls only' hair makeup time.

I personally think if the bride doesn't care save urself the money. I want all my bms there with me so they don't have that option... but they don't care, they all wanna be there and get it done with me

just go get it done elsewhere and do not worry at all. Most of my bm's got hair and make up done elsewhere, the only ones who got hair and make up done at my house was me, my mom and MOH. Also remember that if somebody at the house is doing your hair and make up not like youre all sitting together getting it done anyways. And while youre getting yours done not like youre going to socialize with EVERYONE either. Just get it done earlier than she starts and be at her house early. I started getting ready at 10am, but my bm's went to their own salons around 9am or earlier and were all at my house by 11am, so they got there an hour after I started getting ready and still had time, we left my house at 2pm so they were there for 3 hours while i was getting ready. ANd let me tell you that even when they were here, alot of the time they were in the LR while i was getting ready, bc not only did i have hair and make up artists in my BR, along with moh and my mom getting ready, had photographer and then yes a few ppl were in the room but all the girls werent going to stand there the whole time.

I wouldnt have expected my girls to pay more just to get it done at my house, if my hair and make up artists are alot more then who am i to say they have to. She should understand that and be fine with it. Just tell her you'll get there about an hour into her getting ready or even around the time she starts getting ready, thats if you can get an appt about 2 hours before she starts getting ready.
