My FMIL, is one of the greaatest ladies you'd ever meet. Her and I get a long...we're like two peas in a pod.
All of her other DIL's and SIL's, call her mom. I feel weird calling her mom even though when she signs cards to me she's singed them 'Love, Mom K' and when the FH and I give her cards we address them as 'Dear mom'.
That being said I feel weird calling her and saying 'Hi Lil, how are you?' But I also feel weird calling her mom. I'm 32, my mom is alive and I've only ever called her mom.
Am I being weird? What do I call her?

I call mine by her first name and don't plan on changing it. I can't imagine calling her mom... it would make both of us uncomfortable, I think! If FH and I give her a gift or a card, it is addressed to 'Mom' but if it's just from me, it's her first name.

Ive always called her Pat......when i got drunk one time off of some wine....the one thing we bond over is finishing off a bottle...i started callin her mom...which is horrible that it takes some wine for me to call her mom

my FH calls my mom 'mom', but I was only invited to call his mom by her first name a little more than a year ago when we got engaged. Before that I had to address her as Mrs. K***

haha I really don't know...trying to figure it out....FMIL just sent me an email today and ended it with:
(I don't know how to sign these e-mails to you!? Kathy, Cushie, Mrs. Lynch? Anyhow, gotta do that work thing!)

I call my FIL by their first names. It would be weird to call them mom and dad because they aren't mom and dad to me.

Mom, not only do I have the greatest FMIL, but the greatest family on his side. They treat me as well as my own family does. I am very blessed.

OMG this happened to me too. I think she expects me to call her mom now, but I am not sure if I can.

I call her mom and FH calls my parents mom and pops. i have no idea what to call his father cause we are not particularly close so i just avoid calling him anything...i wonder if 'hey you' will still work after we're married.

I have no clue how I'm going to switch to mom mode.. don't get me wrong, she's adorable but.. I feel mom is such a personal way to address someone.. get this my mommy wants me to call FMIL mom!!

I call FH's parents by their first name. I would probably call them Mom and Dad but they haven't asked me too so I'm not going to without them first asking (it would be too weird). We do write Mom and Dad on cards though. My parents asked my FH to call them Mom and Dad but he feels weird about it. While I know they would really like this they are pretty much just glad that he stopped calling them Mr. and Mrs. Last name.

That's So funny I do the samething .I call her by her first name But after a few drinks I call her Mom or if I am leaving her a message on her phone I call her Mom ...lol
