who just came back from war? My DH's good friend (who was supposed to be in our wedding party) just came back from the war and his family is throwing him a big welcome back party. Any suggestions?

That's great that he/she is coming back. If it is a guy I would say a bottle of wine or favorite liquor. Since drinking is prohibited over there. If it's a girl, a spa day would be perfect. I know when I came back I went and pampered myself the day after I got back it was wonderful and MUCH needed. Good Luck

My husband always enjoys seeing Mr. Daniels with a nice ribbon around his neck.
Is he married? If so I would give him a gift card to go out to eat. Everything things being reunited is such an easy task and yes it is magical but far from and easy transition.
If he is married and our his parents throwing the party? I know if my inlaws did that my husband he would be pissed. He never expects gifts and he would want to relax and what his privacy back.
Just go and have fun, talk about the future and not the past and if he drinks I would just bring a bottle of something or a hostess gift.

When my cousin's husband came back we sent him a basket of beer & nuts . yes, you can actually order that online. . .( I forget where)
I also like the fancy restaurant gift certifcate.

My friend just came back from Iraq. His wife threw him a huge party and on the invitation it said 'your prescence is present enough'. But everybody got hima gift anyway. I got him a gift certificate to a really nice restaurant that I knew he loved!

I agree with the food gift certificate, wine, liquor, pampering, hug.
If he's a beer drinker, there is a beer of the month club, but I am not sure of the cost.
