What do you give as a shower gift for someone who isn't registered anywhere?

My FH cousin and her fiancee live together and she is registered no where, which I assume its b/c they have most things so I have no clue.........

Ideas? Suggestions? I'd rather not do a gift card b/c it just puts an amount on something.

Quite honestly - a couple of people gave me at my shower that I loved was a basket full of things. For instance, these people knew that I love candles so there were candles, picture frames (all different sizes), little bride and groom stuffed bears, and stuff like that.
Hope this helps

A gift card to a nice store that they would both enjoy - or the international gift - cash! Cash is always welcome!

Someone I know didnt register because they only wanted cash. A little tacky but whatever works! At my shower I got a few baskets with things in them too and I loved those. Gift cards are great - picture frames, photo albums with 'wedding' themes and 'bridal shower' themes...since the bride is probably going to have a TON of picture. Or cash is always safe!

A gift basket w/ different stuff isnt a bad idea--

The only reason I'm avoiding cash or gift cards is we gave each other the same amount of money for our engagement parties, and will probably do so for our weddings--we're basically giving back what was given to us. LOL, so I dont want it be an even exchange for the showers too. LOL

Some people don't register for the sole purpose of receiving money as a gift. JMO.

I agree. If I were invited to a shower where the couple wasnt registered I would assume they really needed the money more then picture frames or towels. JMHO but you may not like putting an 'amount' on something but I think its better to give the couple what they really want and can use.. then something they might end up returning anyway b/c they need the money.

ETS- My fh and I have lived together for over 2 years and we still registered for things. there is always SOMETHING you need or want, or stuff you want to upgrade ( better toaster or coffe maker etc.) That is why I say they really must want cash.

I received this as a wedding present, not a shower gift, but thought it was great. A gift certificate to use via www.bedandbreakfast.com. You can use the gift at any of the B&Bs which there are over 3500.

A gift certificate to Broadway.com or something like that where they can see any show they would want. I don't know, it is different. Depending on their style, i would say anything from Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, Williams Sonoma or Restoration Hardware would be great. None of those store have ugly stuff and everything is exchangable, just make sure you get a gift receipt.

also, how about a Home Depot or Ikea gift certificate, what new couple can't use that!

i gave my sister a basket of cleaning supplies with a poem. You'd be surprised how it adds up. there was a poem that went with it that referenced each cleaning item. ('your marriage will be a JOY', he's your MR. CLEAN)

My parents love getting new couples a fireproof safety deposit box (the kind you can keep important papers in at home), fire extinguishers and stuff you would never think of getting until its too late.

a spa treatment - I got this and it was perfect since we all know how stressful it gets while planning. a couple of the girls chipped in for this.

Do they celebrate Christmas? If so do they need a Nativity? I received the Precious Moments Mini-Nativity and it's still my favorite gift. It's an 11-piece set and there are additions to it that they can add on if they want to over the years.

Or you can do a Date Night Basket for them. Get a dinner gift certificate, movie certificates, board games, anything that they could do on a night out or at home.
