We finished pre-cana in nov @ St frances church. Did all the paperwork & everything. Our dilema is that we have no time to get from the church which is 1030am (figure an hour ceramony),to East wind which is 1-6pm. Between traveling times & pictures we may miss alittle of our cocktail hour...But i really don't want to miss anything....WE found a beautiful church 2mins from east wind.....Which would make it soo much easier!
Do you think it's worth the trouble with switching the churches?????

Re: What do you guys think???????
Not all churches require pre-cana..... and or a lot of paper work.... unless the original church, is a 'special' place or minister, it might not hurt to look in too..

I dont know why i am soo nervous with this church thing.....I would rather be married closer to the recpt site then have to travel 45min-1hour to get there...HMMMM I wonder if you need like permission or something from your church to marry else where???

Re: What do you guys think???????
you should check with the closer church bc many churches require either you or fh to be part of the parish...
Also, the pre cana should still count, our church said we could do it anywhere and yes you need to get a 'banns of marraige' from your church if you are getting married elsewhere (at least we did) FH will have to call his church 6 months prior and get this to marry at my church etc.

It is not a bad idea to get married closer to the reception...I know pre-cana will still count...You have to get a letter from St. Frances though releasing you to get married in another church...I did it back in May & I just called the receptionist there & she mailed me a card stating it was alright for me to get married in St. James...So before you call to get the letter, have the name of the new church & make sure the new church has your date available! Any questions, FM!

it seems like a lot of work to me! Is there a way you can make your cocktail hour start a little later?

I would check with the other church... if only just to ease your mind! It may be better, but be careful that they don't charge you more $$ for not being a member of the parish. Good luck!!

Re: What do you guys think???????
This is the same reason we didn't book East Wind...by the time the church and pictures would be over...we still had an hours worth of commute to get out there on a Friday on the L.I.E.!!!!!!
We were going to book a church out there and make arrangements for our families to be there (at the inn)...in the end it was to much bc the day before is Thanksgiving...it would have ben a crazy wedding morning...but deep down I wanted to get married at my church...
I say switch the church...you don't want to miss anything and you don't want to spend time commuting to your wedding...that is if it doesn't bother you to not get married in your church...
