What do you notice at a wedding?

Original post by marymoon

As we're planning maybe this will put things in perspective. What things do you really notice at a wedding and what really doesn't catch your attention?

Things I notice

The food - quality, amount, if there's a veggie option
Viennese and Cocktail Hours
The service from waitstaff good.bad, etc
If the Band or DJ was good or bad
How beautiful the bride looks (She's always gorgeous!)
The fit of gowns and tuxes (I'm particular about that kind of stuff)
OOT bags and what they contain
Programs
Centerpieces (not bo-ks though)
The formality of the invitation and STD

Things I don't notice at all:

window treatments, carpeting, linens
whether or not the BMs are all wearing the same shoes, necklace, earrings, whatever
whether or not the favor matches the 'theme'
It also takes me awhile to even notice if there is no favor
The cake. I think they're so pretty, but to ask me a month later what the cake looked like, I'd have NO idea

HTH!

I notice lots of details but some are less important.

I don't care if the cake is very plain.

Don't care if BMs have matching shoes, jewelry or hairstyles.

Do care if waitstaff is good.

CH food better be great but the main course is not very important to me!!!!

Love to look at flowers.

Usually remember what the favors were.

I love bridal gowns and sometimes like to try to guess ahead of time what style a bride will select.

The overall feel, festive and fun, is what I like to see.

ohhh, 4 more weeks for me!!!

I always notice if there is good music so I can dance.

the only things I consistently remember are:

the groom's face when the bride walked down the aisle

how happy they looked

the food

the band or dj and how much fun I had dancing

where my table was

that's pretty much it

wow - i notice nothing. i can't remember the cp's my cousin used for her wedding 3 years ago - i mean i remember it had the theme tied into it somehow, but don't ask me what it was.

i notice the food only b/c i'm eating it and if its crappy, then i'll be more inclined to remember the wedding.

Definitely the facial expression of the bride and groom. I love that part!

I am probably not in the majority here, but I look forward to a good dinner.
CH I am busy talking and drinking. The service is VERY important. If they wait until EVERYONE is finished , then clear the tables. I also like when the servers have a drink for you without having to ask.
Flowers I could not care. They all look pretty, except those huge displays.
Favors?? I hardly take them.
I look for people dancing and if the music is appropriate.
Now that I am engaged I am sure I will look in greater detail. I love a themed wedding with subtle touchings.
