a five hour reception? We are considering adding an additional hour (it will cost about 1300 including the DJ for an extra hour). Our cocktail hour begins at 6:30 and, as of right now, our reception is scheduled to end at 11:30. Our reception is on a Saturday night, in fact the Saturday night before daylight savings time begins....so everyone could sleep an extra hour Sunday morning!!! What do you guys think?

Sounds good to me!! I wish I could add an extra hour on. Its just too much money I don't have. So instead, we are just going to continue the party back at the hotel!! Since I hear it goes soooo fast, I wish I could add another 6 hours on!!

My reception times are the same as yours and I'm seriously considering doing the same thing. I'm just going to wait til the wedding gets a little closer and see how finances are -- if it only costs $1300 I think it TOTALLY WORTH IT!!!

$1300 is not a bad price so you might as well go for it. Sounds good to me!

I also think it is a great idea! $1300 is not that much for an extra hour

Re: what do you think about.....
For those who voted no...why? Do you think people will leave at 11:30 anyway?
I just feel the day passes so quickly...why not extend the party!!! I think $1300 is really reasonable, too.....considering how many thousands of dollars this whole wedding costs!

Re: what do you think about.....
I am already doing it. Mine is a little different though... FOr and extra $10 a person I get a full viense and a extra hour. So mine is going to be more along the lines of $2000. (about 150 people x $10 plus the Dj) Make sure you tell your photo and video people too they don't need to be their til the last min but you may want them to stay a little later since cake cutting and gater etc will probally all be pushed back a little.
I think its a great idea...do you have the option for 1/2 hour?
this is something that is not too much...and you don't want to look back at 11:30 saying...why didn't I extend it...
maybe cut back a little somewhere else to justify it

Re: what do you think about.....
I say, find out if you can play it by ear! This way you can see how the crowd is that day and decide then!
I have been to Saturday weddings where the crowd died out by 11 and one where they literally had to kick people out at 1am! So you just never know!!
This is what we are doing, I want the option but I would hate to pay in advance and then have only 20 people there (and have paid for all 160!)

I wish I could wait until the day of the wedding. The banquet manager says she would like to know in advance this way the staff isn't shocked when they have to stay another hour.
I still have plenty of time to make my decision....we'll see how much money is left in the budget after dresses, flowers, photos, limos.............
(Thanks for all your positive feedback.......my mom was making me feel like I was crazy for wanting to add an hour! )

If you don't mind the $$ then go for it. Are you having a Viennese Hour?

As of right now we are having a 'modified viennese'...ice cream bar, cookies and such. However, I saw an advertisement on their website...if you mention the site you will get a free viennese. I will try to negotiate to get the full viennese for the price we are paying now. (don't think it will happen, though) Either way, there will be some version of a viennese hour.
