What do you think? BM gave me no card for wedding.

Original post by Audreygirl

I don't really know what to make of this or even if I should make anything at all out of it.

One of my bridesmaids did not give me a gift or even a card for the wedding. On the day of the wedding she said that her brother, who was her guest, forgot to bring the card and check on that day and that she would send it to me. It's been almost a month and I haven't gotten anything. I've spoken to her a few times since and she hasn't mentioned anything and neither have I.

I know she is not in a financially tight situation or anything and I'm not sure about bringing it up, money is such a sensitive subject. But she is the kind who likes to whine all the time about nothing at all.

Any ideas/ experiences? It's not about the money, but she did mention she intended to give us something. And if so, she hasn't even sent a card yet.

It wouldn't bother me at all. Even if she did say she was going to send it and didn't. There's a reason why she didn't, and maybe it's personal.....who knows. I would just leave it be.......JMO

I probably would just leave it alone also. That was a poor excuse she gave you. But maybe she felt embarassed about not having a special gift for you. Since she did participate in your wedding i'm sure she did pay for her dress and probably helped you in little other ways, I would leave it alone. The friendship may not be the same. But at least she was there for you on your wedding day.

Wait and see. We got married the week before you and someone didn't give us the gift and after the wedding she said she forgot. We just rec'd the card yesterday. She probably would send it so I wouldn't say anything. If she wasn't going to give anything she wouldn't have mention it.

I would just leave it alone. I am beginning to notice that not everyone 'returns the favor' or does the right thing when it is your turn.

Having this happen stinks. I think the best thing to do is just let it go.

I had 5 friends not give us anything... not even a card. (3 of which said they were sending something and never did). and one of the friends was someone who's wedding we went to in April and gave a nice check to. Also, my own brother and MIL didn't give anything... not even a card. I was actually blown away by that.

The only person I said anything to was my brother and I just ended up disappointed because he really had nothing to say about it.

Let it go is my opinion!

Thats a tough one.
I will admit that friends of ours got married (Friday wedding). I rushed home from work, got ready and left. FH was in the wedding party and I completely forgot the card at home. I told the Bride and Groom that I came home and rushed around so I would get to the wedding ontime and the next day I brought the card to their house.

I have been in a similar situation. My FMIL has yet to give us an congratulations on your engagement card... but i won't get into that again . (we had and engagement party, not even a card!!!)

I know this is hurtful. It is understandable if one can not afford a gift...especially since being a BM her presence is a gift, as she is honoring you at your wedding. But it is very rude and thoughtless not to atleast send you the card that she already said she has, and forgot on your wedding day. The truth is that people do get forgetful... And even though it is hard we have to try not to take it so personally. Believe me, I am really trying to not take it personally.

I guess the best advice is to just remember that people are people, and no one is perfect.

also, that even though people can be forgetful, they still love you and wish you the best. I know that i am guilty of being forgetful and have had to apologize to my good friends on more than one occasion in my life.

wow - i'm so sorry!!! reading what everyone has said i think it might be best not to say anything and just let it go.

no one is perfect and i certainly don't have the most upsetting situation compared to all the other girls who didn't get a card either.

i really appreciate everyone's responses.

I would be hurt if hat happened to me. It seems odd that she would tell you her brother forgot your card and then not send it. I would have sent the card of even dropped it off the next day. You don't do that.......I'm sorry this has happened to you.
