If you are not getting married on a holiday weekend or having a destination wedding, how important is it to send out STD's? Up until a few years ago, this wasn't the thing to do. It almost seems like a silly waste of money unless you really need people to make arrangments for that date. I am thinking I could put that money towards something more useful.

I'm not sending them out. its just one extra thing to pay for! I've gotten them in the mail before, and I dont really think they've helped me rememeber when a wedding is if its a year away.

I am so happy that you brought this up. I am getting married on July 6, 2008 which follows the July 4th weekend. My FH feels that we do not need to have STDs but I feel otherwise being that it's a long holiday weekend.
But I totally agree with you, if you are not having guest from out of town and since your wedding is not around a holiday weekend, I see no necessity.

we werent gonna do them at all till we realized it was memorial day weekend. I honestly ( no offence to anyone idont attack me! ) lol But iMO i think its a waste of $$ to send them unless you are getting married very close to a holiday or have lots of OOT guests

I really found it pointless to send out STD's we though we would get responses back from deff. no's since that is what fh and i do. But no one said anything but - How lovely - they must of been so expensive. BLAH BLAH BLAH
honestly waste of money and if i went back in time I wouldn't of done them.

Im not sending STD's cause Im hoping some people wont save the date...
That is great! We aren't doing them either, everyone who is coming already knows the date.

Why don't you do a save the date through a wedding website? Our wedding website is through www.weddingchannel.com - you can chose to send an email as a save the date instead of mailing something (ie: magnet, card, etc.) My friend did this, also through weddingchannel.com and it was cute! Served the purpose & help conserve $$$... HTH
