What do you think of The Cloisers?

What do you think of The Cloisers?

For our engagement pictures?

I emailed our photographers and told them I was having trouble picking a location. I told them what I was looking for and they made three suggestions. I ran a google image search (of course) and although I've never been there it looks beautiful!

Has anyone been there? Would this make a nice setting?

Help!

It's absolutely beautiful there!!! My favorite are the courtyards, which I'm not 100% sure, but you might have to pay admission for the museum to get into. GREAT architecture (columns, arches) and nice gardens! Outside of the cloisters is Fort Tryon Park which is mostly trees, but pretty views of the GW Bridge, the Hudson, and Palasades which looks really nice from far away! Great pick!

So there is a museum and then just a general nice area around it?

I have no issue paying admission, I'm just not sure what the photographers were referring to. I emailed asking specifically where in that area and if they had any photos from past shoots just a few minutes ago. I just don't have time to go scope it out!

Yeah, 'The Cloisters' is the Met's collection of medieval art, and it's housed in actual monks cloisters and buildings that were transported here from Europe. These cloistered buildings form a series of outdoor courtyards. The architecture is amazing. The whole complex sits in the middle of Fort Tryon Park, which is that northwest tip of Manhattan (it sort of looks like a finger sticking up!). It's really hilly and elevated there, and you'd never know you are in Manhattan! Like I said, the park is full of trees and has some trails, and overlooks the Hudson/Palasades in NJ/GWB.

I wish I could send you photos, but last time I went, I was taking photography classes where I shot on actual film, so I don't have anything digital to attach!

Thanks so much for your help! I'm really leaning towards this although I'm still waiting for an email back from the photogs.

Glad I could help. I think you will love it! Regardless of where you end up, post your engagement photos when you get them back!

I did mine at CP and went to Cloisters recently. The first thing FH and I said to each other was :'we should of did them here'.

I did my epics at the cloisters but you are legally not allowed to take pics there without a permit or approval from the museum which is hard to do. We got most of ours done before they kicked us out.

I think it's a beautiful place to take e-pics.

Once my photographers actually write me back, I'll make sure they either have a permit or are willing to get one.
