I definetly think buying a house. I don't know how you girls do both. I would be sooo stressed out. You are my hero

Buying a house because I felt like I had more control over the wedding. You never know what kind of horrible info the owners are holding back on. At least with the wedding this site outs most of the bad vendors.

Well, the wedding planning was more difficult because I was engaged for nearly 2 years--the whole house hunting process took only months from looking to signing a contract. And any time you look at the amount total you will pay over the 30 years on the mortgage it is like

Definitely buying a house! There was so many things we had to learn about rates, brokers, agents, contracts. I thought it was easier to select a wedding vendor than choose which mortgage company to go with.

Definitely looking for a house. Planning a wedding is only for one day (a very important day), but a house is a much bigger commitment.

For us definitely planning the wedding. We had tons of horror stories. The house couldn't have gone smoother- KNOCK on wood

planning the wedding. We were planning long distance and then had a few deaths and a few mix ups...just a lot more stressful. The house buying process went as smooth as could be for us. We found the house of our dreams on Valentine's day and closed a month and a half later on 3/31 with not even one problem.

I really enjoyed planning the wedding. I did not so much enjoy house shopping...definitely more stressful.

I always said I hated planning the wedding, but it was only because there are too many options in NY... you can look at a million florists, etc.
But everyone we dealt with for our wedding was WONDERFUL and I would recommend everyone (well, maybe with the exception of the bridal salon), but buying this coop has been my biggest nightmare ever!!! Mostly everyone associated with this has been horrible!!!! We plan on moving in a few years, but I don't know if I can live through this again and its not even over yet!!

So after this long rant, harder - buying a house - a million times harder!!

I am doing both right now and I say buying a house is hands down harder. I actually take breaks from house hunting to do my wedding stuff when I feel stressed I rather plan 1000 weddings at once then house hunt

We're also doing both right now. And I think the house hunting is by far much worse! I've already said we're not buying another house after this. We have to stay in this one forever b/c I can't go through this again (provided the sellers agree to the contract, of course!).

we aren't officially in contract yet, so it is difficult for me to answer truthfully. my experiences thus far w/ the house (hunting, pre-approval, researching and hiring engineer/attorney, verifying stats w/ town hall etc...) have been somewhat smooth. IMO, there were SO many other factors involved in planning the wedding. sure, the day is really about you and your DH, but you also have to worry about 100+ other people and make sure that they are kept entertained and provided for. in re: to the house, the decisions we make will only affect us.

in a couple months i might have a totally different opinion.

agree 100%!
We went into contract 2 weeks before the wedding and closed 2 weeks after the honeymoon!! I thought it was perfect timing

absolutely buying a place to live - we have a co-op. we searched high and low and had soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many issues - i mean who runs into this: you make the best bid and the seller turns it down because he doesn't want a bidding war????????

the wedding was a breeze compared to buying a co-op.

Planning a wedding was so much more awful for me by FAR. Because looking for a house and buying it was about US - what WE wanted. Planning a wedding...well that had nothing to do with us, it's about the opinions, wants, needs, and complaints of hundreds of other people!

We actually clsoed on our house 3 weeks before our wedding and we also had Christmas and new years in between. I still don't know what I was thinking.
House was more difficult for me b/c everything was very last min. and the constant phone calls were driving me nuts. The wedding was totally in my control and Where as with the house there were too many other hands involved (lawyers, RE, Mortage idoits Etc) and you were on their mercy at times with closing dates and stuff like that.
As for the wedding you knew when it was you knew what you needed to do to prepare for it for me there wasnt a million last min details like with the house (thank god I think I might have lost it )
