Re: What foods should you eat & NOT eat during your pregnancy?
Did I miss something - are you???I go by the philosophy - everything in moderation and my dr said the same. He said there is nothing he is going to tell me I can eat but I should do everything in moderation. He said if he had to pick something it would be tuna (as in tuna steaks and simliar cuts of fish).
The things I avoided since I knew I was pregnant:
-Sushi, raw meats, undercooked meats
-Tuna or fish with higher levels of mercury - like swordfish (canned tuna is ok in moderation)
-The obvious of alcohol, drugs, smoking, etc (but never into drugs or smoking anyway).
-Things with raw eggs (certain dressings or sauces/toppings)
Things I limit (by my own person choice):
-Processed Meats (such as cold cuts)
-Soft Cheese (I eat feta or brie or fresh mozzerella here and there)
-Canned Tuna
-Caffinated Beverages (never drank much of that anyway)
I am sure there is more but this is what quickly comes to mind.
As far as medications, I haven't needed any form of aspirin and when I get headaches I just try to deal with it. AS far as other things I always as the dr first. I have been on a couple perscriptions for infections and I also take Claritin as needed (just try not to over do).

Re: What foods should you eat & NOT eat during your pregnancy?
Cheeses made from unpausterized milk. Tilefish, Shark and King Macrael are no-nos. Tuna is ok in moderation as is most other fish, although it is recommended not to eat more than 6 oz per week.Meats should not been eaten rare and avoid foods made with raw egg. Cold cuts should be eaten in moderation and should be bought from someplace where there is a lot of turnover.
I have been following the theory of things in moderation. I will eat a can of tuna a week, cold cuts once in a while. I now eat my red meat medium rather than rare. I gave up the fried runny eggs that I love.

If you have a cat, you are NOT supposed to clean out the litter. Could have toxins in the cat waste which can cause harm to the fetus.Tell your DH to do it!
ETA: LOL i know its not food related but important to know!

Re: What foods should you eat & NOT eat during your pregnancy?
Niecey pretty much summed it up for me too!My doctor NEVER said NO to anything, so I have some things on the 'DO NOT' list once in a while...
After my 23 week mark, I allowed myself a tuna sandwich once in a while and a greek salad with feta as well!
Things I chose not to eat at all are:
Cold cuts
Hot dogs
Sushi
You cannot take Advil, but you can take Tylenol...
I've NEVER heard that thing about the bleach! I use bleach when cleaning my white laundry, all I do is pour it in, but I chose NOT to use household cleaners, like ammonia, DH does that type of cleaning!
