I get very stressed, although I KNOW I shouldn't, that all of the painting will not be done and the organizing stuff will still not be completed. With my stupid nerve problems I am VERY limited in how much I can do now (although I try to push it way too often and pay for it dearly later). So I was wondering..am I the only one who is trying to get home projects done before the baby arrives? What are you gals all working on?

We would have to paint and decorate for the nursery but we don't plan on doing that until after the New Year. Of course we have other projects we would like to work on as well. I think the next project for us is to buy new blinds and curtains for the front window. We also need to connect the dishwasher so that we are ready to have Thanksgiving here with the family.

Michelle, I totally sympathize. I posted yesterday about how stressed I am moving into this new apt and having so much to do. I too feel like I just want everything to be perfect and settled before the baby comes. It is a lot of pressure trying to fix up your home, whether a baby is coming or not. And I understand how frustrating it is not to be able to do as much as you want because of your nerve- if my mom tells me one more time that I cannot paint because of the baby I will scream. Make lists of the things that need to get done, little and big, and feel the sweet satisfaction as you cross each one off. I love that and it is very motivating.

Well, we are renting a house, and we're moving in Nov. 7th, and we're going to paint the nursery and our BR immediately since they say the fumes aren't good. Also, it's a lot easier to do before there is furniture in it.

I can totally relate. It's my nature to think it all has to be done RIGHT NOW! I have no advice to make that stop happening, so I will just tell you the crazy projects I have embarked on.
We emptied out the entire garage - tossed everything and my husband painted it. It's totally empty now - very satisfying. I am knitting a blanket, scarf, hat and mitten set for my friends' baby shower in November. I am also making my own baby a granny square crochet blanket. We are getting new windows in the nursery and a carpet put down. I am insisting the closet in the nursery is emptied of EVERYTHING so there is room to keep things for the baby. A lot easier said than done as it's crammed with everything you can imagine from baseball cards to my wedding tiara….
I want all the plants and flowers cleaned off the deck. Christmas shopping of course, Thanksgiving at my home (not looking forward to that undertaking), I want to organize all my Martha Stewart magazines into binders….

I think part of what's playing into this for you is the natural 'nesting' instinct that women often develop late in pregnancy - you want to rip everything apart to make sure it's clean and new looking for the baby. I totally understand.

After watching Trading Spaces last night, DH and I decided we definitely want to repaint the LR and DR before the baby arrives. Also, most importantly, we are going to switch our home office and guest bedroom (which means moving furniture and repainting) so that the guest bedroom which will become the baby's nursery will be next door to our bedroom. Not sure when this will all get done, but I'm not going to stress yet. I'm due in Feb so I'm hoping we'll get started by Thanksgiving.

We gutted our LR DR andbaby's room and are still workingon them. The LR and DR aren't done because I can't choose a **** paint color (I am NEVER indecisive... what happened to me?! ), so my floors are still unfinished and my furniture is sitting at the store.
The baby's room is still unfinished because the carpet was not delivered as scheduled on Saturday morning, and so now THAT furniture is sitting at the store. At least that's not my fault.
But am I stressed?? Nope. I know it'll all get done in good time.

I am glad we are all doing this to our husbands.
I want that Clean Sweep show to come to my house..you should see my husband's upstairs office. He is very lucky that I am only up here once in a while and that my leg hurts or else I would be Clean Sweep team

We're doing stuff before, during and after babies. Getting the babies room(s) done in time for their births never struck me as urgent, because they are in the bassinet in my room for the first 3m. So that gives us more time, and I wont do a non-gender specific room.
But what we are in process of planning/doing Same as jenny11.9 we emptied out and painted the garage, so we can start with johns storage items in there. Redoing hardwood floors within the next month, taking down wallpaper (every stitch in my entire house, hate it) Then downstairs we are putting laminate flooring throughout, and then furnishing a playroom, gameroom, office, and kitchenette area. and hopefully i'll start using my new kitchen downstairs soon.. the list goes on and on..new windows, siding, etc etc... but this will keep us plenty busy for plenty of time.....
