Nice try Yabbo!

Actually my friend caught her in the same story. She told them (two districts back) that she was making $60,000. When she got this job, she told the same friend (forgetting what she told them originally) that this district was paying $30,000 more than what she was originally making. You do the math, that would be $90,000 right? Well, she told them she was now making $60,000 at the new job. She can't keep her stories straight to save her life, but that' s how it is with her. If she told you she went to McDonald's today, you'd have to question whether or not she was telling the truth because the stories are just so unbelievable. I have tried to cut her out of my life on several occassions because she has other issues beyond that, but she keeps creeping in and husband feels sorry for her because she's just such a mess emotionally.

Does anyone know how Bay Shore pays?

I know that in NYC, to make $75,000, you would have to work for at least 16 years and have your Masters + 30 credits above it. I'm entering my 10th year of teaching, have a Master's +30 credits and am making no where near that amount. I do realize that Long Island salaries are a bit better, but not by that much! Gosh, at my stage of my career, if I worked at your friend's school, I could be making close, if not more, to $100K!

i think it's sad that she is so unhappy with her life that she has to crete stories to make it more exciting - she could have been on Dr. Phil today!

and I also thank you all for making me think of this
because i recently got a new teaching position and it's for A LOT more money than i am used to - and i like to think about it whenever i can!

And the city pays a lot less than anywhere on long island. I think Nassau is the highest paying area around here. But i've never worked in suffolk - i only know about the districts i've been in!

i agree with yabbo's numbers. around 40 for ba & no experience. around 50 for ma & no experience. the pay scales vary considerably based on the district.

unfortunately, schools out here in jersey (with the exception of bergen county) pay considerably less than LI i took quite a cut.

Spel...I miss my LI salary too :( at least cost of living is a little less in CA...so the salary difference isn't as bad...
