My friend is going to a wedding and she wants to know what is an appropriate gift amount to give as a couple...she is not in the wedding party, it's a co-worker....If you have any suggestions that would be greatly appreciated! TIA

Re: What is an appropriate gift amount?
I usually give at least 100-150/person.

Depends on what you can afford. For a co-worker I'd say between 150-200 per couple

Re: What is an appropriate gift amount?
I know it sounds bad, but it kinda depends on where it is also. I wouldn't give less than $200 for a couple regardless of where it is. But, if it is a nicer place, I would give either $250 or $300.

I feel 200 per couple is an appropriate amount no matter where it is. I do not alter my gift amount according to the place they chose.

I know that is the right thing to do, but I don't always want to give $300 when it isn't a close friend AND I know they only spent $60 a person. If it were a good friend/family I always give $300 regardless.
I agree that it should be $200-$300 per couple for someone who is a co-worker. If it was a close friend or family member I would def give more.

Re: What is an appropriate gift amount?
We usually give $300 (maybe $250 if it involves a lot of traveling and hotel stays), but as I'm starting to notice from some wedding gifts people have sent us, many are not nearly as generous. Give what you feel is appropriate depending on your relationship to the couple and what you can afford.

I think that the place makes a difference. You should always cover your plate costs. If a couple gave me less then 400 they would not be covering. JMO

what if you went to a sat night wedding at some of the more expensive places (ex: oheka, carltun)--would you give $600+ per couple? most people do not 'cover' their plates --and i don't think you can really expect them to...

It's a gift not a cover charge! Give what you can. I think $200 is fine and is what DH and I usually give. We got $100 from at least 2 couples one was even a BM!

I agree. I attended a millionaire's daughter's wedding at Windows on the World yrs ago. I am 1000% sure that I did not cover my plate. People give what they can afford to give.

I have to agree..and I don't want to know how much per plate it was either. I give what I can afford and how close I am to the couple. If I was attending, I wouldn't give less than $200.
