HELLO EVERYONE NEW TO THIS SITE

MY NAME IS KAREN AND MY FI NAME IS ROB WE WERE ENGAGED ON 2/12/03
OUR WEDDING DATE IS 09/10/04

I'AM A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED AND I KNOW I SOULD NOT BE. YOU SEE MY FI HAS THREE SISTERS ONE IS ABOUT MY AGE 24 AND HER FI PROPOSED TO HER ON 02/13/03 AND THEIR DAY IS 09/29/04. SO WE WERE TALKING TO THEM AND THEY ALREADY BOOK THEIR HALL. BUT HER FI SAID YOU CAN'T HAVE A NICE WEDDING FOR UNDER 50,000 AND I AM LIKE WOW I MEAN MY LIMIT IS 35.000-45,000 I DON'T KNOW IF THAT'S IS A BAD PRICE. NOW HIS FAMILY COMES FROM MONEY AND WE ARE PAYING EVERYTHING ON OUR OWN.

SO I JUST WANTED TO SEE WHAT OTHER BRIDES BUGET WERE

Okay, we booked a hall asap, and then statred the vendor shopping EARLY,( 2 yrs. in advance) they all looked at us like we had 9 heads, but got the most amazing prices around! We are actually under budget- Without the honeymoon our wedding is going to be about 16,000 it is becuase we booked EARLY, shopped around for the best prices for the money that we could buy. The wedding is going to look like we easily spent 50,000 on it. You just have to keep a level head and not get carried away. Good luck!

Well I'm trying to budget $20,000 for everything
we'll see if we can actually stick to it, we are paying for it ourselves so we are going to try our best.

I have been to weddings in different price ranges and they were all beautiful. The things that really stick out to me are the couple and the love between them. Please do not think your wedding will not be up to par b/c of constraints people you are not marrying try to put on you.

my budget is $25,000 with 15 days at Maui and everything .. 150 people at south shore in Staten island video, dj limos, flowers I look to save every which way i can and its working im doing pretty well i think

I am not sure, since different people are paying for different things. when all is said and done 45-55k probably.
The amount that you spend is not reflective of the wedding. Budget and figure out what is important to you and ENJOY your day! After all is said and done, it is about the marriage

I honestly don't know yet. And I really don't want to think about it So far, we've spent close to 30k We still have the rings, flowers, honeymoon, bp gifts, tux, hair/makeup left

I agree with Robeymuse though, you need to figure out what is important to you and decide if you want to spend more here and less there.

I look at it this way, in the end the cake is gone, the food has been eaten, the music has been played, the dress stored, flowers preserved and 25 years from now who is going to remeber a thing except you and your hubby.

what is important to me is the photo and video because that is something we will always treasure.

we are not going over the top but we are adding special things to make it over the top. (my fathers family is jewish and even though FI and I are both catholic I am incorporating some jewish traditions in my day), i am going to have a special prayer said during mass, since my grandparents are all gone i asked FI would it be ok that I do a special dance with his grandfather, our best man and matron are married to each other so we are going to have the DJ play there wedding song and have just them and us dance, we are having toasting goblets instead of glasses, etc...

so you dont need to spend 50K on a wedding to make it great. Its what you, your FI and your guests make it.

But Melissa think of the amount of people I am having that increase my price and I am doing very different things as well..

Why is 50k wedding such a big deal!

It's not a big deal if you can afford it, and if thats what you want...I certainly can't afford it and if I could, I probably would not want to do it anyway because its not who I am...

when I got engaged, my dad announced it to his girlfriend's family...one person said you can't have a nice wedding for less than 40k these days, and another said you could do it for less than 10k...my wedding will be somewhere in the middle, because thats what we can afford and it will reflect us...

I believe your wedding should be what YOU want... not what someone tells you it should be - the one thing I have to say though, if your spending 50k it should look it...I went to a wedding that supposedly cost that much this summer and I was like where did the money go??? (only 1 entree, ugly centerpieces, room wasn't pretty, etc.)

400 people give or take.. So you tell me that is impressive enuff. NO? Meaning with an event with so many people it states automatically that I have a high bill.EMO6:

I know that it will look expenisve just bc of the location of the event.. and with all the extras I want to do!

I know it will be worth it for I am not doing it ever again!

i know its kinda like a stereotype but if the family is italian, they tend to give more than everyone else would. so even if you invite alot of people, youll probably make money on the wedding
