What is one thing you look back on and say...

What was I thinking????
Mine was piercing my nose at 15.. It wasn't too bad bc I only had a tiny. tiny diamond stud, but it was stupid bc I couldn't keep it for long, being that I had to take it out everytime I entered my house! Wasn't worht the pain.. mind you.. my friends and I did it ourselves!

Lauren!! you did it yourselves? aRghhhhhhh....

I like the picture!!

I would have to say, going out with the biggest loser on campus when I was in college and not realizing that he had an addiction problem until it was too late! Thank god I dropped him like a hot potato!!!

I was going to say when I moved to Philly with my job 10 years ago - after that my life fell apart for a long time and I beleive that was a catalyst.

BUT, I am stealing Scott's answer - I wish I finished college.

I regret not saving money earlier in my life.. And I also regret not going further in college when I lived at home with my parents..

Some days I look back and wonder what was I thinking when I let FH (then friend) date my friend and I didn't open my mouth and say 'hey I like you and I know you like me, so forget her' Instead I got mad and stopped talking to him for 8 months

I regret not doing the college thing sooner... and there's something every semester that reminds me that I made a mistake. For example, I'm taking a mandatory test tomorrow afternoon (on my birthday! ) that they instituted a year after I would have graduated if I wasn't such a delinquent in the 90's. P*sses me off every time I think about it!

leaving a job I loved for more money....it turned out to be the worst job I have ever had and made me absolutely miserable...

BUT the lesson: money does not make you happy...and I am glad I learned that in my 20's!!!

Hmmm...I think I have a million....but a big one would be not going away to school-I stayed for a bf that I was with for 5 years..he was an addict and it was an abusive relationship. I wish I would have done better in college. And I think I would have re-done my list of people I've slept with and saved more money.

glad to hear there are others who made the boyfriend mistake.. staying in a relatinship too long that was pointless! i too didn't go away to college for that reason and couldn't seem to get rid of him any sooner... but if i did go away, i would have never met my dh! everything always seems to work out in the end!!! saw him at a wedding recently and i THANK GOD i ditched him when i did! hasn't changed one bit.

Not becoming an MD! Instead I became a lawyer....I still think about going back and following my heart.

Melissa...I agree with you there...

when I taught Economics I said if I could teach the students 2 things it would be to invest/save their money and not open credit cards!!!!!

I would have to say taking longer to finish college than I should have!! I dropped out a couple of semesters over stupidity! One of the reasons was that I was so depressed that this loser dumped me! I look back and I want to kick myself sometimes! I do have a few other regrets and gone through lots of misery in my life but I do have to say this..... If things had been any different, if I didn't make these same mistakes, I may have chosen a totally different path in my life! I may not have been lucky enough to meet the love of my life! It is something to think about!

Re: What is one thing you look back on and say...

Staying with a horrible ex-boyfriend for six long years (from 17 to 23) OMG! What a jack-a$$ I was!

Not going to college to major in Fine Art/Graphic Design. I still play with the idea of going back.

But my one ultimate thing I look back on with regret is that I didn't feel good about myself, didn't say, 'Hey! I deserve better than this!', and didn't start taking real control of my life until my late 20s/early 30s.

If my self-esteem had been healthy, I never would have stayed with the ex-boyfriend for so long, and I would have gone to college. That's why I think the greatest gift a parent can give to their child is to teach them to feel great about themselves, and believe in themselves. If I have kids, that's going to be the MOST important thing I instill in them.
