they are just filing for 'chapter 11' bankrupsy so they can reconfigure their finances. For what I've heard they'lll still be around for a while.

Fortunoff is filing Chapter 11 (bankruptcy) to 'reorganize. They are being bought by Lord & Taylor (or whoever owns them). They will be offering deeper discounts on items on your registry in the future. I.E now if someone doesn't get you something and you buy it yourself you get 10% off, in the future it will be 20% (so said the lady I was talking to)

honestly i wouldn't move my registry they will have a online option to buy things and ship them. They may not stock all your stuff in store anymore but honestly how many people shop there? I mean if you live in the area that is one thing.

I am not a fan of Fortunoff unless you buy collectibles or china there. I find them much too pricey for no reason and very rude if you don't look like your made of money shopping there.

BUT they do offer great discounts when things are on sale and now they are saying they are discounting everything on registry as said here so i would keep your registry there. Just make sure people are aware to mail your present to you or themselves because it may not be stocked in store.

I have some things on my Fortunoff registry but I need to go into the stores to add stuff. I'm kinda waiting to see how this affects the registry. I'm sure they'll still carry most of the stuff but I just want to wait a little bit.

They are filing for Chapter 11 and I heard too that Lord and Taylor is buying them but they are still going to run the business as is but might be adding more designers, something about it was in yesterdays Newsday as well.

Yeah we all have nothing to worry about. It's an internal thing. I asked the ladies at the bridal counter and they said they're not concerned (since this is their livelihood). They're being bought out by another corporation (L&T) and may even expand nationwide. But our registries are fine.

They are not closing. they've filed chapt 11, which basically just gets the creditors off their backs while they restructure their finances. L&T will mostly likely buy them, but any company can. they have even been extended a monthly line of credit to keep purchasing so their instore and online stock does not diminish. IF anything changes it will take at least a year.
